There is word going around that firmware 3.0 is freezing some games. I was playing online for a while last night and I had no issues at all. Some say games like Uncharted, Bioshock, Fight Night, UFC are freezing. Are you having any issues?

I’ve only played RB2, LBP and Tekken since the update. I haven’t had any problems with any of those games.

This might not be related to the firmware. I noticed after the update. The power off icon on my fat 60gb ps3 is not mapping to the correct icon. It is showing a question mark instead.

was playing Prototype last night and saw some screen lag that wasnt there before. when the game loads a mission it does the assassins creed 360 camera thing and thats when it happens, dont think it did this before but i might be wrong.

I read about the Uncharted problem at TSA earlier today, so loaded it up on my launch 60GB to see.
I played from the beginning of the game up to the point where you find the sub in the jungle, and had no problems whatsoever.
I just got my Slim through a while ago, and am currently transferring stuff over, so I haven’t tried playing it on that yet, but I will later.

Well I just bought batman yesterday and at the beginning cutscene it was twitching a few times like the way a cd skips. I was worried cuz it did it about ten times. But when I started the game over it didnt do it again and hasn’t done it since. Thank god!

nothing experienced here, but I have got a weird dust storm getting oput of the back of my fat PS3 twice since I upgraded
is it time to back-up?

After some one mentioned the very remote possibility of a heavenly sword sequal I’ve been playing that game for hours with no issue.
@Abdulelah: it’s never a bad time to back up your drive. I occasionally vacuum the intake and output vents on my launch 60 to prevent overheating by making sure the console gets unrestricted airflow across it’s components.

i havnt had any freezes persay, i’m having difficulty with the playstation locking up when i try to power the system down. It will try to hibernate, wait about 5 or 6 seconds, then beep 3 times. I’ve had to actually turn it off manually. Sometimes the system will beep 3 times and then restart.
I don’t know if i like this new update. I think its seriously messing up my PS3.

my PS3 occasionally did that anyway. Something like that shouldn’t be too big an issue, unless it does it while its saving data or something.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a 3.01 firmware update or something to fix these kinds of issues. Maybe even a 3.1 that gives you more text options for size and color (which would be nice. I’d like to have black text so I can have bright backgrounds)

@ JImmy…yea I think they’re feverishly workin on a new update to release VERY shortly adding exactly what you said….I think its very clear to Sony that this FW was received very negatively…and changes need to be made ASAP…

A friend of mine said Puzzle Quest: Galactrix locked up on him during the single player game. So I gave it a try and after about 15 mins, the game locked up on me too. It’s never locked up before since before the 3.0 patch.
Also had it lock up on me when browsing my music folder

Im having problems with my PS3 (flat) when i try to play BlazBlue the game never load and sends me to an error the disc could not start, i change the cd and it did the same thing…. when it loads it freezes very quick,…. sometimes it doesnt show my cd on the xmb like if it were dead… i eject the cd and put it back in and then it shows… but im worried cause maybe its my ps3 dying?

I noticed some stutters in COD4 Modern Warfare, no freezes though.
I must say I’m not liking the new update, partly because it adds in a load of duplicate menus that I can’t remove. I liked having the Store appear un Network, and that What’s New thing…I just want to get rid of it completely.

I’m pretty sure it does that for everyone on your first playthrough. It did that for me when I was still running on 2.80.

I started to re-play uncharted last night (right after updating 3.0), and after about 15 minutes of play the game froze completely and crashed the system, had to press and hild the power button for the 3-beep reset… wasnt impressed

I have noticed that after the update, everytime i try to go into the playstation store it freezes during the load.

I have had serious problems with Resitence 2 and Madden 2009. I am a new PS3 owner and have the 120 GB flat one. Not a good opening experience, but it sounds like the PS3 has had problems form the inception. Wish I knew this before I got into this thing.

I started noticing horrible freeze up’s and lag while playing Fallout 3 the last couple of days. Never had the problem until after the latest update. Checked last night for any new updates and let it download while i went to bed. We’ll see if it still occurs tonight.

Just got the 7yr old the hannah montana movie game for her birthday & it’s locking up every 5 minutes or so (PS3 slim).
Thought it might be the game, but now thinking it’s to do with the firmware after reading this (yes, i know, putting that game on my ps3 is likely to do it – or at the very least myself – damage of some kind!)

I bought the First Uncharted the other day so I can get the 2nd one. Well 10 min in to the Game it froze up. took it out had to restart the PS3. went to the last save point and it did it again. Well after and hr of restarting I took the Game back got a new one came home and well it was working good this time I got to chapter 3 the Sub mission and dont you know it froze again, and now when I take the game out It freezes as soon as I load it up. ANyone with this issue? All my other games work ………..

ya same thing ps3 2 months old. Updated 3.01 freezes. Have to restart the machine to do anything. MLB the show also. Worked fine updated within 10 min. problems ever since.

Yeah games freeze for me (ninja gidan used to freeze at a specific point of a cut scene, MAG freezes within 5 seconds of joining a match and uncharted 2 freezes within 5 seconds of playing story.. I can’t even get past the train in the 1st level.) The audio usually stays on. Pressing the PS button does nothing either.
