PlayStation 3 Motion Controller coming this Spring |

Kaz Hirai confirmed that it’s coming Spring 2010. I guess it’s going to be called “The Magic Wand”. Kind of a boring name, ah well. The technology is great. But that’s nothing without fun games to go with it.

β€œWe are slating it for spring of next year,” he told The Times. β€œOne of the things is that we just don’t want to put out the controller. We need a great software that supports the controller at launch. It’s something that we’ve been working on for the longest time.”

That’s understandable, but don’t delay it for to long either. I’m sure Micrsosoft will release Natal before Sony releases the “The Magic Wand”. I wonder what the pricing will be like. Since you’ll need a controller and a PlayStation Eye. Hopefully you’ll be able to buy it separate and not forced to buy a bundle. That bugged me in the EyeToy days.

PS3 Motion Control coming next spring

Well, they’ll have a few months to delay it if they need to since Natal isn’t supposed to be released until late 2010

  • Darrin

They said Spring 2010 when they originally unveiled this at E3.

And it still doesn’t have an official name. People are calling it different things, but none of that is official.

And Natal isn’t expected to launch until late 2010 (I would bet that this PlayStation device misses its Spring date).

    So basically, nothing new.

  • I had bought PS Eye outof much anticipation, all I had was 3 kids games. Burnout integration was nice tho. I dunno why they still don’t go for headtracking for FPS’s. I mean, c’mon, it’d be real cool..

I hope they come up with exciting stuff at launch.

  • Sorry for the awful punctuation..

I think head tracking would suck, because the TV is stationary, and when you turn your head, you still have to look at the TV

  • @jimmy, I am just talking about head position and tilt. There were tech demos of it and it was awesome, it is like you are looking through a virtual window, as the direction of camera changes based on your head position.

I still like to play my games without having to move πŸ˜›

  • Would love to see this working.
Just playing catchup with the Wii, however it will be a great addition that a lot of PS3 owners will more than likely go for
