If one sells much more than the rest the company can get cocky and overconfident. A close race keeps everyone in check and that usually means more offers, deals, and better prices to us the public. I've had a fat ps3 80 gig for a year and am very happy with it. To me it was worth the price. I like the look of mine better than the slim but who sits around looking at their game console thinking "wish it looked better?" Good sales of the ps3 is good for 360 owners. Keeps Microsoft on their toes. Us ps3 owners have the 360 and the 360 price to thank for the price drop. You think Sony would of dropped the price and got the slim out the door if it wasn't for the 360? To all you new ps3 slim owners...congrats and welcome aboard. When was the last redesign of a console you have seen fall quickly in sales? DSLite? DSi? PSP Slim? PS2 Slim? Granted most of those are handhelds, but the sales for each of these stayed pretty steady at a much higher rate post redesign then the what they were for the older models in all areas. Japan = 150,000 UK = 3:1 over the 360 NA = 75,000 for 2 days of pre sales So that eliminates the percentage increase and gives you a target area of what the numbers will be comparitively.
