With over 800 titles to choose from the Playstation Video Store has launched on the PSN. The pricing structure is as follows;
- HD Rental – £3.49
- SD Rental – £2.99
- SD Purchase – £8.99
*HD is currently rental only but they are working on making them available to buy. Also;
At launch, there will be a special offer for existing PSN members, allowing them to receive a complimentary copy of The Da Vinci Code if they buy Angels and Demons. There will also be a special promotion to encourage new members. Anyone who registers for a PlayStation®Network account using their new PS3s between 19th & 30th November 2009 will receive a voucher to download a complimentary copy of Transformers to own.

The PSN Video Store is just plain bullshit – at least in Germany. We only get stereo audio tracks, and not even the english ones, only the german tracks. This sucks. In fact, it’s cheaper to buy a dvd or a bluray, then to buy it in the psn store.
Sad, but Sony failed.

I am still reluctant to use rental services both Sony and MS. I always feel I would rather put the money towards purchasing the film on physical media. Still expanding the services available is never a bad thing, I’ll have a look once it’s up and running.
