RPG Spotlight: White Knight Chronicles International Edition | PS3Blog.net

White Knight Chronicles finally makes it’s  North American and European debut this month after being available in Japan since December 25th 2008.  Developed by Level-5 ( the guys who brought us Dark Cloud and Rouge Galaxy on the PS2 )  and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for the PlayStation 3, WKCI offers a feature not found in many rpgs; an online mode that lets you create your own town called Georama.

    According to the official wiki:

This system is an online mode that lets you create your own town. It can function as lobby and can allow you to set up a shop. People can enter this virtual town and also take a look around. The editing mode functions as a system that you can place from a list of objects ranging from houses and other garden accessories to anything customizable for your town. You can even have your town placed in the middle of plains, deserts, or wilderness. There are six different field types. Other items can also help you shape your hub, e.g. elevated platforms, embankments, trees, and other items. You can decorate your town however you want.

You can recruit non-player characters to join your town from your Story Mode. This makes your Georama change depending on whoever living in it. Non-player characters have jobs and specific skill levels, which will affect the kind of materials and items you can use in your Georama. Each player has their own Geonet that can create up to 20 Georama rooms.

On this note, a maximum of 12 people can hang out in your customized town and 4 including the host can enter your quest room.

WKC will include voice chat as well. There will also be a HOME interagation and White Knight Chronicles inspired LBP outfits and stickers. Check out the game’s character creation process:

White Knight Chronicles releases today, Feb. 2nd, in NA and Feb. 26 in Europe.

I didnt know this was gonna have voice chat, sweet. Gamestop is giving me the run around. The guy at the store said it might not come in today. I want this game asap. Iam sick and tired of using guns, give me a sword for gods sake.
Is it a good idea to do story mode first or can I start online mode right away?

  2. I believe you’ll have to finish the 1st chapter in story mode before you can play online.

Ive seen mutiple trailers and in game footage and nothing seems to stand out to me. Gameplay looks a snore, graphics look like somethin ps2 can do and story doesnt seem that good either. Im a fps, action/adventure gamer but im lookin into rpg’s. Why should i try this game. Anyone can answer.

  5. Finally !!!

  6. @Royalty If you want flash and dash with fancy graphics and no substance in an rpg , wait for FFXIII.

  7. oly1kenobi

they are advertising this like crazy.. I just watched a bunch of videos too.. think I’ll pass..

  8. I don’t think we care enough about your happiness to answer.

I’ve never heard of this actually. I hope it’s good.

  10. I’ve still got to start and finish Demon’s Soul, Fallout 3, both Ratchet and Clank games, Assasin’s Creed 2 and Uncharted 2 (plus 8 Wii games, 5 DS games and about 20 games between Wiiware, DSiware and PSN) before I purchase another game, so White Knight Chronicles is to be added to the list of games to purchase by June at the earliest (which includes GoW III, Dante’s Inferno, Bayonetta, Bioshock II and this game).
