SE: “FFVII Remake Too Hard To Translate on PS3”

In a recent interview  with Ultimania Magazine SE’s Yoshinori  Kitase has downplayed any chances of a FFVII remake graceing the PS3. He’s quoted as saying that “It is very hard to make games on PlayStation 3 in the same style as the games in that era had. Making graphics will take enormous time.”

    I’m not surprised. Square-Enix have already shown us and told us how lazy they are, e.g. the lack of cities in FFXIII

    Wake up Square-Enix – if you want to stay in the game, you need to put a lot more effort in!!!

    I dont understand why it would be a problem? For me it would have been super cool if they use the same kind of technology as in FFVII but in HD instead. Making static backgrounds that look stunning rather than full 3D models of everything. I mean, The remake of Resident Evil for gamecube did this and still looks stunning.

    I’d be happy with them remaking for the PSP ala Crisis Core graphics. Or maybe wait until the PSP2 for that extra umph and storage space?

    Instead of all these high-end graphics like FFXIII, why not go back to FF roots and be able to traverse the map like a 100ft giant compared to tiny towns dotted over the place? I’d LOVE that again.
