God of BluRay

Via Twitter earlier today, Tim Moss, Director of Technology at Sony Santa Monica, had this to tweet about the upcoming PS3 Exclusive, God O f War 3;

 “GOW3 35Gb of goodness. Thank heavens for Dual Layer Blu-Rays”.

 The last PS3 exclusive to utilise a dual layer BluRay disc was Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4, a game in which Kojima admitted came close to filling up the 50 GB of space the dual layered BR discs offer.

Unlike previous installments in the GOW series, GOW 3 will have no CG cutscenes. In comparison, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII will consume 32.6GB of CG movies and only 6.8GB of  game content making GOW 3 nearly 6x the size of Square Enix’s flagship rpg in terms of actual game content.

God of War 3 has officially gone gold and will hit store shelves March 16th.

    35GB and no CG? The sound in this game must be off the charts. Cannot wait. Comes out just before my Birthday. 🙂

    Simply Amazing, this is an perfect example of the quote only on playstation. 35gb thats freakin insane and no CG. This is the reason why xbox needs blu-ray because it would not be possible to do god of war 3 on 360. Im so glad i went with playstation.

    Based on E3 2009 demo, I really hope they used that 35 GB to improve the gameplay. Compared to more modern releases like Uncharted 2, the demo felt stale as last week’s bagels. But I’m guessing it’s duplicate textures a la Oblivion.

    But I’ll reserve final judgment till my Ultimate Edition comes in.

    Why is evrybody complaining about the gameplay. Nobody was complaining aboutit in GoW or GoW2 so why startt now. Its not gonna change, why should it. If anything they would add to it not start fresh.

    Glad to hear they didn’t have to cut back on content because it wouldn’t fit. Blu-ray starting to look good yet MS?

    There’s been two games that comes close to using all 50gb on the blu-ray disc that come to mind. MGS4 and now GoW3. Will there ever be a game that uses all 50gb. O yeah and U2 also.

    Just the scale of this game alone looks to be the biggest game ever made. I cannot wait to play this game.I will be at the midnight release in Indianapolis

    Mmm, seems like a lot of memory spent so maybe it has to do with all the language tracks tacking 10 GB from the disc?

    the european version is 40GB, because of the diff. language tracks.
    the 35gb is the us version (i think with english only)
