God of War III Will NOT Have HDD Install

To keep with the trend of first party titles not requiring an HDD install, Sony’s Santa Monica studio has followed suit. Christer Ericson has stated this via Twiiter:

God of War 3 does NOT do a HD install. The 5MB listed on box back is for save game only.

Given the fact that the game takes up a whopping 35GB of data, this, in itself, is actually pretty impressive. There will also be no provisions to do an optional install either, though, so pretty much all loading would be through the disc. What that load times are like remains to be seen, but I don’t expect it to be that bad. The real question is, will there be, at least, a nice amount of cache to hwlp with the load times even a little?

Anyway, this is still a nice bit of support for those who are running out of space due to all these mandatory installs. You’d figure other devs would catch on by now and find ways around it, too.
