Playstation Network Down And Deleting Trophies?

psn

I just downloaded the latest patch for FIFA 10 and when the game started up I got error code 8001050F saying trophy data could not be found. I then check my trophy list and whaddya know? All my trophies for FIFA 10 have disappeared, the game is not even listed anymore as if I had never played it. A quick search on the forums reveals other players experiencing the same problem with other games, not being able to play PS Store titles and XMB themes have becoming corrupt.

I am still unable to sign in at the moment but hopefully Sony will get the PSN back up along with our trophies and themes. I pray they have not become corrupt and lost forever. Anyone else lost valuable data and having problems too?

A community investigation appears to be taking place at http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-General-Discussion/8001050F-Registration-of-Trophy-Information-could-not-be/td-p/10297418

Ya i’m sure they don’t keep backups and everything is corrupt and lost forever.

So much overreaction over this nonsense

Countless sites are showing the same problem. In addition, the Sony Playstation website is also working extremely slow, probably due to the massive number of personnel trying to access this same problem. When posting questions about error codes, be VERY leary of answers when people jump to “format the system” or “return it for repair”. Even comments about Sony saying this should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember that the customer service lines are typically not even in the country, nor are staffed by people who know anything about computers; they just read scripts.

With so many people having the exact same problem in the last couple hours, it is best to just wait and see what happens later. It is obvious that the network itself went down.

Easy ways to test you system are just what you did already. Do you have an internet connection? If yes, then there is nothing wrong with your system as you are accessing the internet already. The problem is the receiving end of the connection request (ie: Sony this time). Hang in there, I’m sure Sony will work it as fast as they can and have us all back up and running again.

I’ve been getting booted off of PSN all weekend. Always when I’m in the middle of a party in WKC too.

  5. #5 by Cuddlypawsd on February 28th, 2010

Thank you very much Trev, I have just went on playstation little planet, I received the same error code, Also any of the purchases I have made in costumes is now stating that I cannot use them as I did not purchase them. So I am not able to use any of the costumes.

your best bet would be to not touch anything until the issue is resolved. PSN obviously crashed today

  7. #7 by Fleakitten on February 28th, 2010

Some are saying this same problem occured this same day a year ago and was resolved. What is it about Feb 28th?

  8. #8 by Othunter on February 28th, 2010

Earlyer today I stared up my ps3. Then got a message that said error you have been signed out of ps network.then I started ip mw2 and said error the tropies could not be confirmed. Thegame closed and I looked at my tropies and they were gone. Both the errors had the same code. It is freaking retarded

  9. #9 by XxJYDxX on February 28th, 2010

Rented Dragon Age earlier this week and played it up to last night. Went to launch the game today and couldn’t even play. I was having the same error as mentioned above about the trophies. The way I see it, PSN owes me a rental. This is absolutely ridiculous.

the site is having issues right now, just an FYI. Tosh said it’s because we’re getting bombarded with traffic, mostly due to this article haha

  11. #11 by EmruneMilox on February 28th, 2010

Same issue here exactly. Started with Dragon’s Age about 2 hours ago… also lost my Assassin’s Creed 2 data & Demon’s Souls. I got error code 8001050F saying trophy data could not be found. Even after downloading the update & deleting everything still same error. I’m not putting anymore games in there for fear of losing everything!

  12. #12 by Brent Marler on February 28th, 2010

y ai was playing mw2 today and got off around 5 then i get home at 8 and it said error and i cant even play mw2 in the story mode at all i hope that they get this all fixed or there will be alot of pissed off ppl

  13. #13 by Jaime Ruiz on February 28th, 2010

This is ridiculous that I can’t even play MW2 story mode. Why is it that the network is tied into the game that I can’t play my own disc game MW2 when their system is down? This makes no sense to me!!!!! Can someone tell me why, it should be able to operate free of the network??!!

  14. #14 by Tim on February 28th, 2010

At least now I know it’s not just me. Just lost all my AC2 trophies. I spent half the day going for the platinum. I know, they’re just trophies, but I’m still p***ed that I lost them all. Now I can’t even play the game. Jaime poses a good question. Why can’t we even play the games offline??

  15. #15 by ronald on February 28th, 2010

I got a friend who has a play station he doesnt have internet for a week a go he was play single player the hole week i bring he’s system to my house because i do have internet and he’s play station sing in and out from psn network normally I’m in hartfortd ct,

  16. #16 by JimmyMagnum on February 28th, 2010 [ 83111 Points ]

everything will most likely be there after they fix it, so there will probably not be any missing data, but I’d still advise people not to touch ANYTHING until the problem is fixed in case trying to access the troubled data inadvertently corrupts the data.

  17. #17 by Andy on February 28th, 2010

@13, if you disable your network under settings; MW2 should work just fine. Its only because it thinks you have the internet that it tries to connect to it.

  18. #18 by Alex Busby on February 28th, 2010

I noticed something about all this…the trophies only get deleted if u put the game that u want to play into your system. for example: i put in Heavy Rain and then took it out after the error poped up and then i noticed that all my trophies had been deleted for that game. the same happened for MW2 and NBA 2K10

  19. #19 by mjm_007 on February 28th, 2010 [ 270 Points ]

Yep, I lost all trophies for Heavy Rain, (about 70% complete.. But I was waiting to sync them until I got the platinum, so I hope they are still savable) all my psn games are invalid, all the themes I got from psn are corrupt and the date says 12/31/99.

I have a 60GB Phat Launch Edition with an upgraded HDD (500GB)..

I reeeeeeeaaaaally hope I dont lose those trophies (i’m a self admitted trophy whore, the first step is admitting it right??).

The thing is, I already had to start Heavy Rain over a few times, having fallen victim to TWO glitchy and ultimately corrupt save file. I FINALLY finished it in ONE sitting yesterday, and then THIS?????? FML lol

my PSN is eXiLeD_bEaSt & i got the same error, so i decide to play MCLA & ALL of my DLC is gone! my Afrika Dynamic theme was “corrupted data” but i still have all my trophies. anyone else experience this?

  21. #21 by greg420 on February 28th, 2010

Just normal down time from ps3. They update their servers now and then. Seems like more now then, then. Offline again tonight for server updates. Disconnect your ethernet to play 1 player games, or disable internet on the Ps3 until the Ps network is back up. Hope I could help, ps3 still rules!

  22. #22 by alex asperilla on February 28th, 2010

same problem as above, can’t sign in even my purchused games from ps store has an error when trying to start.

  23. #23 by angus27655 on February 28th, 2010

no go, turning off the internet connection still brings up the error, ive tried switchin off my router to keep it from trying to update trophies or whatever and it still brings up the same error, but i am both happy and sad that everyone is having the same problem, happy cause i thought they blocked my psn account or something lol, sad cause now im playin bioshock 2, good game but gets old after 3 playthroughs :/

  24. #24 by Mike on February 28th, 2010

Have read many posts for issues involving this error on “fat” PS3′s that were NEVER plugged into the network, no internet hook up at all, that scares me… built in leap year burn up? lol Of course it would help if it was a leap year… hope the Sony boys and girls get this quick, but its been all night now and no fun… Lost all my Borderlands trophies… bye bye platinum…

  25. #25 by Mark on March 1st, 2010

I wanted to play Dead Space today, but noticed that PSN was unresponsive, occasionally giving me an error code 8001050F. I disregarded this error code and proceeded to play the game, when the trophy loading screen appeared and the trophies failed to load. I attempted to play it several more times, restarting the PS3 as well, with the same result. I opened my trophy list and noticed that my Dead Space trophies were missing. I also noticed that my time and date settings had been distorted.

I hope that PSN has my trophy files, as it would be a pain in the ass going through the game again and collecting every single trophy.

Its a date time issue on the system that is causing the error so internet or not it’s still going to affect you unfortunately.

    THIS IS GETTING FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!!

Latest news is that the slims are fine but the old Fat models should be working within 24 hours (presumably after it turns midnight where it will fix itself).

You’re trophy data is all stored on Sony’s servers and should be restored when you are able to log in again, which might not be for a while. You may lose any trophies earned before you last synced though but these are all rumours at the moment.

Here’s what’s going on right now: something with the PS3′s internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3′s clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.

    Does this affect me?

-If you have a Slim PS3, you’re good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a “fat” PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.

    What does this bug mean?

-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.

    How do I fix it?

-You can’t. Even if you don’t sign into PSN, it won’t help. This is a hardware issue.

    So, what do I do?

-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the “bugged” day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves…maybe.

-If that doesn’t work, we’ll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.

    Did I lose my data/themes/etc?

Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They’ll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they’ll be fine if you’ve synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.

If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?

It’s probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

So there ya go, my handy FAQ.

    Possible explanation:

    Originally Posted by iammeiam:

What’s apparently effed, as speculation goes, is when the internal GMT-tracking rolls over to 3/1. It’s either not rolling, or rolling to 2/29, at which point a system tries to add/subtract from 2/29, which it can’t do because the front-end calendar doesn’t have a 2/29/2010, and shit explodes. Seemed to happen around 4PM PDT, which I think is 12AM GMT, so.

And the PS3 launched in 2006; it’s hit 4 2/28s so far. 2007 and 2009 were odd-numbered years; 2008 was an even, and a leap year. 2010 is the first even non-leap-year the system’s been around for. If some sort of base-level math is choking on itself, it may have ruled out the odd 2007 and 2009 successfully, but is convinced the even 2010 is a leap year (this part I’m less sure of, but is why leap year could theoretically come into play at some point.)

Manually set your clock via then internet, then restart your system and boot up the game that trophies are missing from, they should then be reinstated.
