God of War 3 Cost $44million to Develop

god of war 3
According to Sony Santa Monica studio’s director of product development, John Hight, God of War III cost $44 million to make. According to a study, the average cost of producing a current multi-platform game is $18 to 28 million, while a single platform game is said to cost about $10 million. The $10 million number seems to me to be alot less than I believe, especially with such big titles as Heavy Rain, Halo, and Uncharted to name a few. With Modern Warfare Two’s development said to cost $40 to 50 million, and Gran Turismo 5’s reported cost of $60 million, GOW3 is right up there with them near the top. GTA IV is still believed to have cost the most of any game, and said to have cost $100 million. I expect to see more and more money put into these huge games, as more and more people continue to join this generation of gaming.

This seems a little ludicrous. Those other games were much larger in scale and had multiplayer to deal with. Plus they were on multiple systems.

It isn’t like this is a 30 hour adventure. 10 hours and your done. No multiplayer, No system change mid development, no 1000 cars to render with picture-like detail.

I just don’t see how this cost anywhere near that amount. If it did, someone was picking from the coffers. I would find 30 million at the real high end of what this should cost to make.
