Rock Band 3 Just Announced for Holiday 2010 Release

According to the Rock Band Facebook page,:

Rock Band Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!

The backwards compatibility is a must for this game, and I expect it will be available. One new feature I’m sure they will include, is the ability to play multiple instruments of the same type, as they just allowed with Band Hero. Multiple people playing the drums, or singing the same song would be a great addition to the game. Any one else have some interesting ideas for the upcoming Rockband 3?

a way to set up a set-list with drum solos and guitar solos, with all the songs loaded at the beginning of the setlist for seamless play between songs, or even transitions between songs

Personally, I want a fun way to learn a real instrument other than drums. Regular (non-game) instrument practice is ok, but I want something more engaging and addicting.

    From IGN:
“the next Rock Band game will feature new controllers that allows players to learn music rather than simply playing along.”

Now that sounds great. I hope by “learn music”, they mean learn to physically play music, and not learn about music history or theory (which I can get from a textbook very easily)

Another music game. Such a snorefest. Wake me up when music gaming has offically died and burned in hell.

RockBand is THE music game to own. Forget Guitar/Band/DJ/whocaresalready Hero.

    I’m looking forward to this.

Nope, Rockband isn’t as good as Guitar Hero, specially when you consider that Drums in GH are waaaay better than those in RB. Having a Snare, Two Toms and a HiHat/Crash and Ride/Crash is better for drumming than the circles just magically changing into different parts of a drum set.
