MW2 DLC Way Way Way Overpriced

I actually listened to a Major Nelson podcast today. Actually, a small part of one. It was the part where Major Nelson talks to FourZeroTwo from Infinity Ward (a.k.a. Robert Bowling). I learned even more about the five maps in the map pack. That three of them were brand new maps, and that two were maps from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. (Those are Crash and Overgrown.) The new maps are “Bailout, a multi-level apartment complex; Storm, an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery; Salvage, a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.”

I’ve been getting a lot of enjoyment out of MW2 lately. Last night, as on many other nights this past week, I spent a good amount of time capturing A, B, and/or C.

The new Stimulus Package DLC from Infinity Ward will be released at the end of the month for the 360, and sometime later for the PS3 and PC. I was fully planning to buy the DLC, but now I’m not so sure. Why? Because of one more thing I learned from the podcast. It’s priced at 1200 Microsoft points, which is equivalent to $15! That’s a quarter of the price of the full game, for a map pack! Holy crap! I’m gonna have to think about whether selling my liver to buy this map pack is really worth it. I’d really have to cut down on the whole eating thing.

Stimulus Packages are usually rather expensive. :D

I think I will put the money I would spend on this towards Battlefield 2…

I’m not surprised – it is Activision, after all.

I didn’t buy the game because of their UK price hike, so the map pack cost is irrelevant to me. But I do know that I’m highly unlikely to ever buy another Activision game again.

Not that Activision have much to offer apart from Call of Duty, and hopefully if West & Campella get their way, they won’t even have that.

You won’t go far wrong with BFBC2, Trev… awesome game.

I tried the demo to BFBC2, and I didn’t like it. It’s like they took all the stuff I’m bad at, and made a game around it.

I really don’t know what they are playing at..

They won’t be getting any money from me until it’s dropped down to 800ms points like it should be..

    Simple.

Do it. BC2 is awesome. I haven’t even touched Modern Warfare 2 since I bought it. Something about being able to snipe and not have an enemy spawn right behind you is a good thing.

Now about the map pack. It better be free for PC like it should be. We already had to pay 10 dollars more for no reason. If they charge us $15 for a map pack to play on PC. I can see the end of MW2 is coming near. Because no one will buy it and people will stop playing.

I hear they have 3 or 4 (Map pack being 1) new Call of Duty things coming out this year and early next year. Including a brand new game. They are turning Call of Duty into Guitar Hero. Soon or later people are going to get tired of Call of Duty.

Thanks guys, been wanting it for a while but haven’t been able to get it with all the reviews i got to get done.

Anyway, I’m starting to wonder if the price of this DLC is to pay for Activision’s lawyers…
