PS3 3.30 System Software Update |

Sony has released an update which will be adding a few new features to the PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Basically there is a new sorting method for the trophies, which is supposed to be more efficient.

  • Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
    • Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)

In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

I’m surprised they went from 3.21 to 3.30 in less than a month lol

Im so sick of all this talk about 3D gaming. Its cool for movies but for games give me a break.

  • Kenny6774

Yes!!! ause I’m sure the highest ranking item on that recently launched suggestion website was a better way to sort trophies….pardon the sarcasm…thanks Sony for another lame update..

  • Sinlock

I wish they would add a notes section to the friends list. Sometimes I forget who some of the people on my list are.

  • Jay

lol, yeah, be able to sort friends, etc would be great

I hear you on that seems like they’ve been slacking on updates so this could be a good thing for the near future, it could mean one big update 4.0 with tons but doubt it.

I cannot play modern warfare online for a trophy sorting update?!? LAME

    …30% …31% c’mon I wanna play MW!!!

  • Hurrah for trophy updates, don’t care a single bit for 3D gaming, nor movie viewing. The glasses really **** up the experience imo.

I would love to see sony implement a web interface to add (multiple) friends

I should probable make one of those popularity contest polls on the us blog… unless they have that feature on the EU blog already

For me the update download stopped at 50% and then my PS3 restarted, then it directly took me to a different type of downloading screen, went up to 75% and then reset again and after that I had version 3.30 and could go into the PSN. Weird, huh?

I didn’t try it in the morning but maybe now we can sort PSN games by name as well?

” Its cool for movies but for games give me a break.”

I’m looking forward to the games more. Especially when you combine it with Move.

Then you really will be stepping inside the game. Instead of just using a 3D motion controller with a flat 2D screen.

It’s partly why they spent so much effort making sure Move consumed very little processing on the PS3. HD + 3D needs as much horsepower as they can get.

Considering we have to buy a new TV to take advantage of 3D I don’t see it being that great of a selling point for PS3 games.

I don’t need 3d television. I just want to play my games, and update 3.30 dicked me! My ps3 slim won’t even play games anymore after the update. Only DVD’s. I wish there was a way to go back in time and remove it Its very frustrating, especially since Sony has yet to acknowledge the situation.
