Jaffe on DAY ONE DLC/GAME SHARING

Well once again Jaffe expresses his thoughts about game sharing and day one DLC, only this time he does it through video. He uses some strong language but hey its Jaffe what are you going do!?

I see what he is saying, In my opinion sony should scrap the whole thing and make a new version so when people try to give there games to random people via psn there is some kind of block the prohibits downloading but also giving them the freedom to download there data if there ps3 has blown up or they have more than one ps3. Whats your thoughts on this agree with Jaffe? or just keep everything the way it is? Don’t be afraid to comment guys.

Well, he does make a point with the game sharing part. The DLC part comes of as only benefiting the publisher since they don’t have to pay Sony for a bigger download file.

I agree with Dave on this. Good find by the way.

I completely agree with him on the aspect of Game Sharing. Not so sure about the ‘on-disc DLC’ though.

Whether you own the content on the disc, or it’s seen as a license, the fact remains that you have paid for the content on the disc. It doesn’t matter how much enjoyment you think you’ve had from the game – the fact is, they’ve already developed and coded that content, and saw fit to distribute it on the disc – which you have already paid for, at a price they deemed suitable for all the content on that disc.

Even if it only becomes available at a later date through a code from the store, it should not cost you anything extra.

I wouldn’t liken it to buying a car with a locked glove compartment. I’d say it was more like buying a car where you had to pay an extra £5/$5 the first time you used every single switch, button and lever.

Day one DLC INCLUDED on the disc should not be charged for. It’s that simple.

Eden, I disagree. Look at Battlefield Bad Company 2. All of the DLC that they’ve released so far has been on the disc. But here’s their catch….If you bought it NEW, you register your code and you are a VIP and the DLC so far has been 100% free. If you buy it used, you have to buy the code off the PSN for $15.00, and then DLC is free. I think that is brilliant. Because the developers get NOTHING from used games sales, and this way they can recoup some of that lost revenue.

JustCause2 has a bunch of DLC on the disc, but you know what? The game kicks butt without ANY of it unlocked. So I agree 100% with David Jaffe.

I disagree partly on the game sharing aspect. I game share with one of my friends that I actually know personally. I think that game sharing is okay as long as it’s with people you know.
