Official: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Earlier today, IGN has reported that the next Call of Duty was, in fact, called Call of Duty: Black Ops, despite reporting yesterday that it was more than likely going to be called: CoD: Vietnam. After the initial official announcement of the title, IGN also revealed the various locations in the game, by way of a game description on retailer Game’s website (that has since been taken down):

Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done. From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!

And finally, the Game Trailers TV unveiling of the first teaser trailer has been released and can be seen above. From the looks of things, there will be quite a bit of vehicle warfare, and I don’t know what missions these would entail, but near the end, you see a guy in a space suit, as well as an SR-71 Blackbird flying right at the edge of the atmosphere. One of the cooler, and more mysterious, details is the use of unconventional weaponry. Is that stuff we probably never seen or, possibly, the use of napalm bombs, etc? Here’s hoping Treyarch can pull this off and make Call of Duty an enjoyable experience again.

I spent 100 hours on COD4 Multiplayer but haven’t bought any further installments, and this trailer doesn’t do it for me either.

CoD 4 is and will always be the best Call of Duty!

Well, Activision HAD to announce this game because of the Infinity Ward fiasco or they risked their stock taking a huge dive in value.

I like the Treyarch developed CoD games more than the IW ones so this is a good year for me.

the announcement was probably not rushed as you think it were, though, since a COD has been churned out every year for some time now, it was to be expected.
