Just how bad is the PS3 shortage?
According to GameStop’s Chief Operating Officer Paul Raines ,PlayStation 3s have been out of stock a whopping 80% of the time during the company’s February-April quarter.
Even though PS3 sales are up 32% year-over-year the supply shortages Sony is facing with the system continue to hinder hardware sales.
On the bright side of things GameStop reported a 5.1% sales increase during its first fiscal quarter with new software sales increasing to 13.3% thanks to big game releases of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII and others.

CostCos near me.. 3 diff ones have a bunch of the 120gb backwards compatible ones…

This is good and bad news. Good becuase ps3 is selling well. Bad cuz with the shortages ps3 wont be in homes faster.

Shortages? Really? Sony didn’t even believe they could sell enough units and now every store is out of stock?

I know this all too well, my 40GB ps3 crapped out on me and i couldnt find one anywhere. had to run around to like 3 different targets in a day after a week of looking.

My launch 60gb died on me over a month ago with YLOD. So I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE, both in store and online since then and guess what?? NOTHING!!! Couldn’t find one anywhere. Everyone says “Oh wait for the CECH-2101a with the 40nmRSX” well I don’t care now, as I’m buying the first 120gb PS3 I see, be it a CECH-2001 or CECH-2101a.
