The Weekly Recap (June 27th – July 3rd)



This Week
Wow, I am WAY late on this one. I apologize for the lateness. There is quite a feat that had happened, but I’ll talk about that on the next recap.

Anyway, for the highlights, we’ll start off with InFAMOUS 2 and the world premiere gameplay video. The game looks amazingly cool, and, despite the new Cole, I think it’s going to offer more fun and variety than the first, and even kick up the action a few notches. Speaking of Sucker Punch, there are some comparison screens between the PS2 and PS3 version of the Sly Cooper games. Hulu Plus will be available on the PS3, and you do NOT need PlayStation Plus to use it (unlike the 360, where you will first require a Gold account). With that said, Firmware 3.4 and PlayStation Plus have also come out, and feature quite a few new things (be sure to read my impressions of both here). Marvel and Media Molecule will be bringing Marvel Comic characters to LBP.

MAINEiac4434 posted his thoughts on Red Dead Redemption. Another new writer, Jim, posted his views on Hulu and PS3′s recovery, but was met with a lot of criticism, but at least he is submitting pieces, right? Ace let us know about July’s Uncharted 2: The Lab playlist schedule. And finally, Darrin put up May’s hardware sales, which still showed the PS3 to have the largest year-over-year growth.

Community News

So, it was a bit of a busy week in the Community. Demerson ran a contest for others to write Red Dead Redemption chronicles, with the winners being David Goransson, Oly1Kenobi and EdEN, so congratulations to you three!

Oly had also posted 7 Medal of Honor beta codes, and were available on a first come, first serve basis, and ran out pretty quickly, so if you missed out, too bad I guess :P .

There is also a new thing for members to freely participate in. We now have a way to bet points with other members, on sporting events, fights, etc. A handful of folks have already started taking part in it, with a couple World Cup matches and the like.

Well, it’s been getting pretty eventful with the game nights lately, with Red Dead Redemption being a big hit with it. We have a small recap for what happened the week before. That was soon followed by another Game Night last Saturday, which I had finally been able to participate in. You can read that recap here. There is another one this Saturday as well, so if you want to play, be sure to post in here!
