Spartacus : Blood and Sand Motion Comic PSN Giveaway

“Spartacus and his fellow gladiators battle for eternal glory in this action-packed four-part motion comic gore fest based off the hit original Starz series.” This motion comic series was pretty good, although definately graphic and filled with gore. It is narrarated by Darth Maul himself, Mr. Ray Park.

I picked up about 12 codes at Comic-con to download the entire 4 part series on the PSN, and decided to give them away to my fellow PS3blog.net members. This series is pretty graphic, so 18 and older only please. To recieve your code on a first-come, first-serve basis, PM me with your date of birth, and I’ll send you a code. If you are not yet a member of the site, please join here.
EDIT: this seems like it might be US only..
Trailers after the jump.

Dead Fantasy 3 – 5 + HD Download Links

Sakinah posted part 1 and 2 last year. A recent comment on that post brought me to that video again. So happens that part 3 though 5 was recently released this month.

What is Dead Fantasy? Here is a short description. For more details check out this wiki page. Beware though, there are spoilers on that page!

Dead Fantasy is a series of fan-made CG action movies created by Monty Oum, starring a select cast from the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series, who fight agaisnt a number of characters from the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts RPG video game franchises. The movies feature numerous brawls as the two sides fight “battle royale-style” in a number of different environments, including archaic ruins and modern cities. As well as the many references to the namesake seires, there are also many salutes to other games, films and media in the fighting genre, plus some examples of fan-made weaponry and costumes.

Since the first installment, Dead Fantasy has been well received by the fans of both game series, and has gained massive success on and off the internet, with trailers, previews and the installments themselves being featured at several gaming conventions. Currently there are five movies in the series, and it is unclear how many installments will be made, although Oum has confirmed he is working on episodes 6 through 9.

Crytek open to making a PS3 exclusive

crytek

At E3, Crytek announced an Xbox 360 exclusive called Codename: Kingdoms. While the Microsoft deal may keep them busy for a while, Crytek boss Cevat Yerli says that they’re very open to making an exclusive for the PS3 too.

“We are an independent studio so we can (a) Do whatever we want and (b) [Have the freedom] to announce something else next week if we want to,” said Yerli.

“Sony is a partner that we would definitely love to work with. A [PS3 exclusive] is something we considered before – we talked about it a lot, but for reasons of portfolio or timing in the past it didn’t work out. But that doesn’t mean in the future it wouldn’t work.”

Aside from Codename: Kingdoms, Crytek is now working on Crysis 2 which is also coming out on PS3.

Looking on the Bright Side

When Sucker Punch first made public their plans to redesign InFAMOUS’ leading man Cole McGarath for the upcoming sequel, I personally didn’t have a problem with the change. According to Sucker Punch the decision for the change was because of their desire to make Cole a more like able character and not a “gravelly voiced un-emotional guy” as correctly described by MAINEiac4434.

Unfortunately a lot of other gamers didn’t like Cole’s new look and expressed their discontent. It’s because of this that Sucker Punch apparently is rethinking the pretty boy Cole and is considering going back to the old, gritty Cole. When I first heard this news I was kind of upset that Sucker Punch would let the a few angry bellyachers sway them but as time passed it dawned on me…. this is actually a positive turn of events.

The fact that Sucker Punch is willing to listen to their fans and capitulate is great news for gamers. How many big named gaming companies actually listen to the people that are basically keeping them in business? How long have fans’ demands for a Final Fantasy VII remake fallen on deaf ears? Granted recreating a 13 year old game is more complicated and time consuming than changing up a character model.

Still it’s refreshing to see that gamers do have a voice in the industry and that someone is listening. As for Cole’s continuous changes,  I still prefer the new version over the bald, bland, boring Cole. I’ll be happy if Sucker Punch can come up with a combination of the two but I doubt that will satisfy everyone. Either way InFAMOUS 2 is still going to be a must have game of 2011.

Comic-Con 2010: 2D Street Fighter vs Tekken Officially Announced [Update: Gameplay Video]

Just a short while ago Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono and Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada put on a show for the fighting game fans in the audience before making the big announcements. Capcom and Namco are developing two cross over titles, Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter.

Game play for the former was demonstrated at the event. Street Fighter X Tekken is in 2D and is being developed by Capcom. Tekken X Street Fighter wasn’t shown but is under development by the Tekken team at Namco. That game will be in 3D and is rumored to be based off of the Tekken 6 engine.

Both games will be released for the PS3 and 360 but not for a while according to Ono-san.

Tekken vs Street Fighter? Street Fighter vs Tekken? Sounds good but are two separate games really necessary?

Actual game play after the jump! (thanks marcus24)
