Comments on: BioShock 3: Infinite announced

This looks and sounds flat out amazing. I really enjoyed Bioshock but played it over an insane period of time (took me about a year to finish it, playing it in bursts in between other games) as opposed to how everyone says you should play it- pretty much all in one sitting. Also, I mostly played it during the daytime, and when I played at night I couldn’t have the sound way up so I’m not sure if I really experienced it the way it was meant to be played.

Haven’t tried Bioshock 2 yet.

I guess I’ll have to check it out then it is cheap enuf..

And the world isn’t ending in 2012.. the calendars are off.. its ending Feb 4, 2011

I did play the first one and have to say it was very good Oly, I am sure you would like it.

Doubt you guys will ever play the 3rd one as the world is going to end in 2012!!

@Luke : 2012 is a day or two off… I’m ready for it *now.*

@Oly1Kenobi : The first game is revolutionary, as far as I’m concerned. It’s a fun FPS with “magical” components (you not only have guns but can shoot fireballs and so on), but most importantly, it’s a deeply philosophical game. It’s unabashedly Freudian (little sisters, big daddies), and it offers a delightful critique of reactionary, Ayn Randian capitalism run amok (it may even seem particularly prescient since our current “Great Depression”). Some of the maps are brilliantly twisted (Sander Cohen’s Fort Frolic is one of my favorite video game levels). It’s an intelligent text in a way that most video games simply aren’t.

The second game is great, too. Better graphics, more atmospheric in certain ways, better management of the weapons and plasmids (the “magic”). Level design isn’t quite as interesting, and the story is really a let down. It treats some vaguely fasco-socialist dystopia (as the “opposite” of the politics critiqued in the first game), and the presentation really falls flat. But still good fun. I couldn’t get into the much-hyped multiplayer component of the second game, however.

@Luke: This game isn't out until the end of 2012 so one game every 2 1/2 years isn't too much of "Milking the franchise" @Oly: Very good games that are fun. Still have to finish them but that's usually the case with games in my collection hahaha. You can find the first one for $10-20 and the second one for $25-40 if you look around. I got the Collector's Edition of 2 and it was a great purchase considering the game and all the extras.
