Gran Turismo 5 Has Optional Install |

HD installs are nothing new to PS3 owners. Some of the biggest exclusives for the system require some amount of extra space on your PS3’s hard drive so it should come as no surprise that Poly Digital’s long awaited Gran Turismo 5 will do the same.

Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed as much via Twitter that Gran Turismo 5 will have an optional 10 gigabyte HD install for “a smooth play experience”. The game will also require 256 megabytes of free space for save data I’ll assume.

Gran Turismo 5 races into stores this November 2nd in North America followed by the 3rd for Europe and Japan.

Oh no, i just realized that both LBP2 and GT5 are coming out in November! What a dilemma!

  • I sense sales of large capacity 2.5-inch SATA HDDs going through the roof, as all those who have so far put off upgrading their drives finally take the plunge…

Holy Jiminey Christmas! That’s a pretty huge install haha. At least its optional for those who have small drives. Man, 10 GBs? lol

10 GBs is a heck of alot of space. I honestly couldn’t believe it when I saw it. But hey if this removes load times then I am all for it. I only have the 60GB so this mightbe all the space I can afford. Lucky for me I will be getting a new PS3 by the time this game comes out. Woohoo I can’t wait.

Hopefully the load times won’t be ridiculous without it!

  • Just upgrade your drive. yo can put this and all the other games and videos in the increased space. i bet that a few new Fall shows will be putting out their season premier free on the sony video store.
