Missed the Mafia II 1 Hour Gameplay Special? We Got You Covered!
I know there has been a lot of hate about the PS3 version of Mafia II, but for those of you still interested in the game, check out this 1 hour gameplay special they had earlier today:
Sony Takes the Crown at Gamescom
…and the winner is….
There’s still 2 days left for Gamescom but Sony’s already walked away with some of the top honors of the event. The convention’s jury ( a group of press and industry figures ) crowned Sony’s and Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 with not one, but two awards :Best of Gamescom and Best Console Game. Sony’s PlayStation Move also won in the category of Best Hardware Accessories.
Best of Gamescom: Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment)
Best Hardware Accessories: PlayStation Move (Sony Computer Entertainment)
Best Console Game: Gran Turismo 5 (Sony Computer Entertainment)
Best Handheld/Mobile Game: Super Scribblenauts (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)
Best Online Game: Guild Wars 2 (NCsoft)
Best PC Game: Crysis 2 (EA/Crytek)
Best Family Entertainment: Kirby’s Epic Yarn (Nintendo)
I was a bit surprised to see that NCSoft’s Guild Wars 2 won in the Best Online Game category and not Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV which is due out next month. Maybe it was the extra $3 per character in FFXIV that sealed the deal….
Live Mafia II Play Session

Kung-Fu: LIVE Details from Gamescom 2010
Posted by Tosh in Gamescom, Kung-Fu Live on August 20th, 2010
[tab:Kung-Fu Details]
Here are some of the special attacks you can do in Kung-Fu: Live.
- Power Punch: Rush left or right horizontally with devastating speed and force.
- Time Stop: Slow down the speed of time to allow for multiple precise attacks.
- Lighting Attack: Shock your opponents with brutal electricity
- Ground Pound: Slam into the cement with the player’s fist to send shockwaves to all of the enemies.
A very cool and unique feature is the ability to have a 5 person party brawl! Four people can pick up a controller to fight as the Dragon Gang against the person playing live on camera! More details on this closer to the games release.
Then some details about a boss fight. You get to fight against 4-story tall characters called the “Gatekeepers”.
In order to take down the giants, the player had to utilize all of his special moves and attacks, while also platforming all across the giant arena, even ‘flying’ into the air using updrafts in the canyon by holding their arms out to lift them up.
Sounds like it’s going to be a very fun game and a steal at only $15 dollars! Oh, and check out the disclaimer at the bottom of there website, lol.

Gamescom Demonstration Recap:
‘THE MASTER AND THE APPRENTICE’ – Set in the majestic dojo on ‘Goji Lake’, a mysterious ‘White Warrior’ prepares the player for combat by putting them to the test launching deadly flying kicks, incredibly fast punches, and magically cloning herself to attack the player from three different directions.
‘DRAGON ATTACK’ – The player is cornered in a back alley brawl with a group of thugs known as the ‘C-Street Dragon Gang.’ This is the player’s first opportunity to put some of their skills to the test, utilizing any move they have in their body’s own arsenal. In addition to that, the player can unleash their superhuman powers on the Dragons like the ‘Power Punch’ (rushing left and right horizontally with devastating speed and force), Time Stop (slowing down the speed of time to allow for multiple precise attacks), Lighting Attack (shocking their opponents with brutal electricity), and Ground Pound (slamming into the cement with the player’s fist to send shockwaves to all of the enemies.)
In this section, players also had the opportunity to pick up a controller to fight AS the Dragon Gang AGAINST the fighter playing live on camera. This is a first for a full-body motion game, and in the final release, players can use up to four controllers against one fighter in an all-out 5 person party brawl. This innovative feature will be demonstrated in more depth later this Fall closer to release.
‘FIGHTING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS’ – Finally, the players saw a fight against two loud, 4-story tall characters known as the ‘Gatekeepers.’ The Gatekeepers are giant, club-wielding, tea-drinking ‘boss’ characters with an unusual appreciation for fine china. In order to take down the giants, the player had to utilize all of his special moves and attacks, while also platforming all across the giant arena, even ‘flying’ into the air using updrafts in the canyon by holding their arms out to lift them up.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Sequencer Shown at Gamescom
Posted by Jay in LittleBigPlanet 2, Media on August 20th, 2010
A you can see in the video, the sequencer can be used for more than just movies. What’s really cool about this is that you can basically make your own songs out of it, too, with a number of different instruments available to use in the tool (and I would imagine a lot more will come through DLC as well). This tool alone is going to lead to a lot of cool levels and most likely LBP takes on popular songs (especially since there will be more than a piano sound this time around). This game is simply going to be insane.

KZ3 Multiplayer Questions
Posted by Blackstaffer in Killzone 3, PS3 on August 20th, 2010
Gamescom brought us a bunch of new information about Killzone 3, and I won’t bother going over it here. You know what Google is – use it! Now that I’ve gone over all the information I can find, I still have questions:
- Very little has been said about the classes. There are five classes, they tell us, and you can choose any of them right from the get-go. As you play the game, you gain points that you can allocate to your class to gain new abilities. Two questions arise. One: what if I want to use several classes? Will there be enough points in the game for me to upgrade all the classes I want to play? Or will I run out? Two: can I reallocate points if I decide that I was going in the wrong direction with a class?
- Chat. Can I now talk to the entire team? It seems like we can from what I’ve read, but it’s still a little foggy. We really need the ability to talk to the whole team.
- Guerilla Warfare. The much-requested team death match feature? I don’t understand. We already had team death match in KZ2. It was called Body Count.
- Will the clans we created for KZ2 carry over to KZ3?
- Will we be getting any lone-wolf game types, like straight-up (non-team) death match or king of the hill?
- Will we be able to customize weapons?
- Will there be any in-match rewards for doing well? Like killstreaks?
