Killzone 3 with Move Controls Demoed at PAX

Guerilla Games is showing off Move support for Killzone 3 at PAX West this year. The above is part one of the demo walkthrough. Part two will be available after the jump. One thing to note here, the Move control seems to work a lot better than that of the MAG Move support, probably because of the turning sensitivity (which is adjustable). It’s also cool how you can pick up and reload weapons, too.

    I’m not a fan of Killzone at all but it looks like they have done an amazing job adding Move support to it. I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen. So even though I’m not going to buy it, I definately have to try it out just so I can get a feel for what is possible with Move and an FPS. Kudos to Guerilla for doing a seemingly amazing job with the implimentation but like with everything else in gaming the true test comes from playing the game yourself. I can’t wait to try it out.

    This looks totally amazing. I think they did an awesome job implementing MOVE as well.

    That does look pretty slick…though I imagine it would take some getting used to using the Move controllers for a FPS. I never tried with the Wii to know how it works, but after a while it would probably feel like 2nd nature to use the Move instead of a standard controller.

    Sorry for the double post but I have watched the demos a couple times and it seems to me that maybe the auto tageting has to big of an area.
    Watch how far the cursor “snaps” to an enemy when he hits the auto targeting button. It just seems to me like you should have to be closer to your target for the auto targeting button to work. Doesn’t it kind of defeat the point that the Move is so spot on acurate when you hit a button and you are half way across the screen from your enemy and it snaps to them. Isn’t the whole point of using Move to give you more control and not less? It seems like they are “dumbing” it down and giving you less control or something.
    What do you guys think? Am I way off here? If I’m not way off on this, I just wonder if there is a good reason why its set up like that?

    Too much auto-aim for my liking (when zoomed..)

    @ube: I agree.. They very much casualized the whole thing either because of precision or orientation issues.

    And wow, it even followed the enemy behind the wall.. Not good.. Not good. (start of the 2nd video)

    i’m very interested in trying this with move controls. i suck at FPS games, especially with thumbsticks—i’ve just never learned how to aim properly with a dual shock.

    so excited for the move. can’t wait to get my hands on it. getting jealous of all the people that have one already.

    While I agree, I also think it’s only for demonstration purposes for now (and it is alpha code). I would imagine the overall auto-targeting radius will be similar to that of the dualshock’s, as well as have the option to turn auto-aim on and off.

    gamepro has first impressions that are quite positive.

    interesting quote from killzone producer: “It really works for some people, it really doesn’t for others.”

    Auto aim should be banned from all shooters.

    I think The Move is a great idea, but I feel it’s not for shooters. Lots of people are going to be hit from the side and back because they can’t look to their surroundings fast enough as someone with a dual shock. Most of the movement is the reticle moving on screen and that is a no no. I’m guessing that’s why auto aim is being implemented.

    i was going to buy the move on release date but now that my phat ps3 got the ylod i will have to buy a new slim model instead of the move.

    I wonder if FPS from Third party developers will develop move controls for their game…

    @Luckner

    times like yours I’m glad I’ve got continuous play! £5 per month and you’re covered! Think they stopped taking on new customers due to abuse.

    However, to stay on topic – I’m defo getting that! Looks awesome. Agree re auto aim tho. However, hardcore gamers will stick to the dual shock and auto aim will help those who suck at the game to help them gain interest!

    @pyroblazen

    not sure about that but I hear they’re making a wand for te harry potter games ;) lol

    I imagine with 3D and Move support this is probably going to be one of the most immersive games ever, specially considering how good the graphics are as well.

    I really like how they did the reload motion. I agree the auto-aim is a little to generous.

    For multi-player they need to separate “dual shock 3″ from “move” games I would think. Or at the very least have an option to create a game for move only controllers.

    This looks like shit. Motion controls are for little girls.

    Looks like it is gonna be great with the move just hope it doesnt take long to get use to the handle of the move contrller. I also agre i think they should seperate the two contrller types for online

    I think if u use the playstation move remote on any shooter it should be a violation….But thats my opinion…Killzone 3 looks great, can’t wait til i get my hands on it!
