Confirmed: Little Big Planet 2 Delayed Until 2011

All the rumors are true. Media Molecule has released a statement via the Little Big Planet  website confirming the worldwide delay of LBP2.

We’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love all our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the best experience imaginable.

Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.We know this will come as disappointing news for all you LittleBigPlanet fans, and believe us, we are disappointed too.

Even though I was looking forwad to LBP 2 this year, I’m not too dissapointed by the news. It’s only an extra two months after all.

I’m a little dissappointed but if it means a better end product then by all means delay it. Too many games come out that could have done with being delayed for a few improvements I feel.

At least it was only 2 months extra. I’m perfectly fine waiting for a polished game.

Is Sony’s only big title for fall/holiday 2010 is GT5?

GT5 is awesome, we just got Move, and there is tons of great third party stuff, but that’s a really short lineup of big Sony published titles.

@Darrin Its not like any company to pin two of their own AAA titles against each other. GT5 could possibly be the biggest game this gen.

I’d also think they wouldn’t want to go against COD Black Ops either.

I think January is a perfect release time for it. In between GT5 and Killzone 3.

This is a little dissapointing. But, like Tosh said it’s only 2 months plus there are lots of games coming out this holiday to hold us over.

the release schedule must have been really tightly knitted.

    stop with the puns!

Anyway, I agree. It would be very hard for folks like me to spend $120 on 2 games that were scheduled to come out about the same time. I wouldn’t have the time to play both of them lol

Well, a delay is always supposed to be so they can make the game better but sometimes it’s due to a marketing decision. In this case, will a month really make that much of a difference considering all the units that could have been sold at christmas?

  12. #12 by mulligank on September 23rd, 2010 [ 625 Points ]

The delay is a bummer, but it just gives me time to buy some other games I wanted to

  13. #13 by Flashray on September 23rd, 2010 [ 90 Points ]

Well delay sucks but if it means a better game than i’ll take it.
And I like getting games when they come out and I can’t do that with so many games at a time.
    So right now it’s perfect:

    move -> gt5 -> Black Ops (hopefully not a shitgame like mw2) -> Assassin’s creed: B -> LBP2 -> KZ3 maybe….

It’s pretty cool that every awesome game and awesome ps3 exclusive is coming out these months.

Well it looks like i will be getting gt5 this holiday season. But if you think about it, Year 2011 is going to be a great year for playstation fans: LBP2, Killzone 3, Motorstorm, Sorcery, Twisted Metal, Socom 4, inFamous 2 and The Last Guardian.

I’m expecting a wait-worthy game after two months as what you’ve said. And i do hope they wouldn’t let any extensions after this one cause I’m dying to play this game. Honestly, testing and other quality check-ups should not be taken lightly.

That isnt too bad people. It is worth waiting for and I feel like it could have been over shadowed by the launch of kinect.

  23. #23 by White-Sharingan on September 26th, 2010 [ 100 Points ]

NOOOOO, but if its to make the game better, then i’m fine with it.

  24. #24 by shadowcrazy on September 27th, 2010 [ 325 Points ]

problem was the backwards compatibility was messing up…so its obvious they’ll delay the game til they get this fixed up…because it would become so horrible if all our work and DLC purchases in LBP1 were for nothing…know what i mean? ;)

  25. #25 by Jonaskin on September 27th, 2010

Bummer, but looks like I’ll just get GT5 and a Move instead. :)
