New Killzone 3 Multiplayer Trailer and Beta Info

Guerrilla Games has announced today that the Killzone 3 Beta will be coming later this month. With that said, the beta is going to be very limited, and there are a few steps you will need to follow in order to participate (though, I’m sure it will open up more as time passes).

First, you must be a PlayStation Plus subscriber. From the looks of it, this will likely be the only way to get in. Second, you will need to be one of the first 5,000 (either SCEA or SCEE territories) to download the theme that will go up on October 19th. If you were, you should get an email confirming it.

And finally, on October 25th, if you got all of the above, you will receive the beta code to download it and begin enjoying the beta. Guerrilla Games wants you to be an active tester if you do get in, reporting bugs and such. After beta testing the Killzone games since the first title, I know for a fact that these guys are serious about their beta testing; one of my favorite developers to test for.

Also, be sure to check out the multiplayer teaser trailer up top. It appears to be 2-3 different maps, probably from the beta itself. So, who’s going to try to get into this thing, then?

Im going to have my son at home refreshing the store for hours!! lol

Also I hope there is move support for the beta as I’m really looking forward to seeing how it is going to be.

No Move or 3D support. They confirmed that over at the PlayStation Blog. The Beta is just for gameplay testing.

I think it’s crap that we have to compete for the beta. I’m a plus subscriber isn’t that enough?? NOPE! Now I have to compete with people who are going to cheat somehow to get this.. Memories of the Subway Fresh Buzz contest?

I don’t like the whole limited to the first 5000 part….

KZ2 multiplayer was awesome; probably my favorite competitive multiplayer shooter.

Jetpacks and vehicles and 3D and Move are all great, but those are somewhat superficial bullet point features. I hope they really raise the bar with more substantial improvements for KZ3.

I was in the beta for Killzone and iam hoping to get into this one to. I like how there is some compation to get in. That way we dont have a bunch of yahoos playing it acting like rejects (like the MAG beta). Anyways the levels look amazing.

I have been in almost all of the ps3 betas, minus the current Brotherhood beta, so I’m looking forward to hopefully being in this. Currently in the Dead Space 2 beta.

The multiplayer improvements seem pretty superficial. One new game mode – the story-driven one. I don’t count the new team deathmatch mode. For heaven’s sake, what’s new about team deathmatch? They already had that. They’ve fixed the controller lag. They seem to be doing the voice chat differently so that everyone can hear (maybe – it’s a bit confusing). They’ve opened up the classes so you can unlock them in any order. Each class has six weapons, which sounds like a big deal until you hear that many weapons are shared between classes. Have I missed anything?

I hope they move away from symmetrical maps. I really really hate symmetrical maps. BORING.

I’m not a fan of Killzone at all and this horrible looking video is doing little to change my mind.
