Sony’s ‘PlayStation Rewards’ Will Be in Beta Starting October 28th |

Well, look at that! Sony has decided to start Beta testing a new loyalty program for it’s users: Playstation Rewards. Initially, Sony has decided to use as guinea pigs all of it’s US PlayStation Plus and Gamer Advisory Panel (GAP) users (that have opted in for marketing as of October 24th) and thus, those of us with our subscriptions up to date will soon get an invite into the Beta so Sony can start getting an idea of how to do this and what exactly it is that we want out of a rewards-for-loyalty program.

To start things off, you’ll be placed into the Selected (Entry) Level and the more you participate, the higher your chances are of getting up to the Pro and Legendary statuses.  Sony will also be sending surveys your way every once in a while so you can get recognized for your feedback. Everything kicks off in October 28, so if you are thinking about buying something from the PSN Store, are in the mood to remodel your PS Home space, or think your avatar is in need of a serious makeover be sure to wait until you’re registered for the program to start winning! What? What can you win? Glad you asked:

  • Exclusive PSN avatars that display member status in the program
  • Exclusive dynamic themes and PlayStation Home content
  • Opportunities throughout the program year to participate in members-only sweepstakes and giveaways for experiences and merchandise you won’t find elsewhere (The first of which is an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, as PlayStation’s guest)

So, what do you think about Sony’s new program?

  • Oly

Sounds great.. but wish it had some retroactive aspects!

  • Jay

Awesome, I’m both a GAP and PS+ subscriber, and if I looked at my profile right, I am opted-in to receiving stuff from Sony, so now I just await my invite

  • I’m opted in as well. Hope I get in!

  • EdEN

Sony and retroactive don’t mix. If they did I’d already be at the second level or maybe even the 3rd with all the stuff I’ve bough at the PSN store.

Remember when the Rewards Program was to be part of PS+ only?

  • How do I opted in to get the free stuff that I deserve?

  • still waiting to be randomly selected for GAP….

  • Jay

go to, log in, go to your account settings, and see if you have the box checked in the notification preferences

  • derrickgott007

I’m in the gap. Been since the PS2 days. Plus I’m a plus member!

  • Oh yeah that, I set that up when I got my PS3

  • what is GAP?

  • That clothing store

  • Jay

@donifar: It’s the Gamer Advisory Panel, its like an invite-only club deal thingy Sony sends to PlayStation users. I got in a month or so after I wrote a thorough beta report for Killzone 1 back in the day (I hear selection is random, so this might have been a coincidence). They have some exclusive deals and contests people outside of the GAP can’t participate in, but it hasn’t really brought many that often (I think they have E3 contests every year, not sure if last year had one or not)

jay you’re right.. The GAP seems to have really slowed down lately. Did you ever win the guess the top 3 games contest they had every month? I never did. Also I got a Playstation hat when I joined.. That was an awesome hat and I was sad that it finally wore out last year.
