Seems like Blizzard wants to once again bring their games to a console near you. When the game was first announced back in 2008 the only systems we knew it was coming out for was the PC and the Mac. Talk quickly started flying about a console version, but up until now there was nothing solid. Now that a job posting appeared on the company’s website stating their are seeking a “Lead Designer, Console” to work on Diablo III everything got a little bit more interesting.
This is the latest trailer that came out of Blizzcon 2010 introducing a new character called “Demon Hunter”.
Blizzard has issued a statement explaining the posting to its fans, stating:
We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project. If you’re passionate about all things Diablo and have the requisite skill and experience, then head over to our jobs site to check out the positions and apply.
“Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game.

I think the 360 would be the only console D3 would appear on since it’s closer to the PC. I doubt Blizzard would want to invest the extra money into making the game work on the PS3, unless Sony steps in.

It’s not going to be Diablo III, but a “Diablo related concept for consoles”.

If they did release it for PS3 it would be an after thought. It would undoubtly be buggy and glitchy just like Black Ops. Don’t get your hopes up people.

@Gibb I wouldn’t be an all new game. You know how long it’s been and they only created 3 Diablo games so far? I highly doubt they would just a new Diablo project just for the console. I believe the 1st Diablo was actually on the original PlayStation.
@UbeRamza I am damn sure it wouldn’t be glitchy, these guys delay the crap out of their games if need be to make sure they are as balanced and solid as they can be. This company ain’t no Treyarch or what have you.

Champions of Norrath is one of my favourite games of all time, and Diablo III would be a similar style game. So I’ll buy it!

Diablo and Diablo II were very high on my list of all time favorite games. Def picking this up and if they make something similar to it on console ill def pick it up as well

Let’s hope they invest the time and effort to do this. Working with Blu-ray and the cell processor seems to be a challenge for any company. This would require a lot of time and money which I believe Blizzard has since they have not released a due date for the game. If they released a PC version and then scheduled a console version at a later date that would be fine for me. I plan on getting this game regardless of system. (minus the xbox)

@@lordincubus I am with you on this. Look at Torchlight, it’s coming to consoles and the game has been out for a bit now. As long as it’s done right it will be awesome.

A Diablo spin-off might be in the cards. A proper release of Diablo III on PS3 COULD use the Move controller to replace the mouse pointer on PC but still…

I was thinking about something like that but honestly that would be really lame. Hope they don’t try any spin of crap and just take Diablo 3 and put in on the PS3 as long as it’s done the right way.

It’s not going to happen. They stated during Blizzcon that Diablo 3 was being developed for PC and PC only at one of the Q&A’s.

As I said originally it was PC and Mac but they are throwing around the idea of a console version. They don’t need to pump this game as it will sell a crap load of copies so I am 100% sure they are really thinking about bringing this to a console near you.

They may be considering doing something Diablo related on consoles but it’s not going to be Diablo 3. Atleast not at the same time it’s released for PC. Maybe they’re looking into doing a action adventure game or a 3rd person action RPG.

lets get diablo 3 out first Oly. From what I am reading it seems that Legion213 is right, I think they would want to make a game for the console but wouldn’t be Diablo 3. So I guess the game might be out in 2015 or so

if Diablo DOES come out for consoles I would hope that they’d use the same controls that Dragon Age uses…it’s been pretty successful so far and being compared to Diablo makes it a good example of how gameplay controls should play
