This is the third entry in the series I started a couple weeks ago. Here are posts one and two. This series discusses the state of Black Ops, how playable it is, and whether or not Activision has fixed issues that are plaguing the game.
You can review the previous posts for some of the issues that are really affecting the gameplay in a bad way. I’m here to report that these issues have still not been resolved. There is good news, however. Activision will be releasing patch 1.04 soon, and here’s a link to the forum post. Included in the patch are fixes for matchmaking, for VOIP icons, and for disconnects of various types (among other things). Just last night we had just started a game and I was 7 and 1 already when the host dashboarded and of course the game aborts. I hope that these issues are fixed.
Supposedly the patch was to go to Sony and Microsoft for verification on 06dec10, so hopefully it won’t be long before it’s approved.
EDIT: There has also been no word about feature parity between the PS3 and 360 versions of the game. For those of you who don’t know, the 360 has dual Live logins and the ability to skip right to multiplayer, neither of which are on the PS3.
