New COD DLC Announced – PS3 Gamers Are 2nd Best Again

Treyarch’s Dan Nelson has announced in Major Nelson’s latest podcast that a brand new DLC pack is going to be release around 1st Feb 2011.

The new DLC, which is to be called First Strike will consist of 4 new multiplayer maps plus 1 new zombie map. Wondering how much this is going to cost you? Well, it’s priced at $15 USD.

The four new maps are the following: Discovery, based on the Reznov mission (location: Antarctic research station), Kowloon (location: Kownloon rooftops), Berlin Wall (location: a fight at Checkpoint Charlie), and Stadium (location: US hockey rink). The zombie map will be called Ascension.

However, as the case was with Modern Warfare 2, PS3 gamers are going to have to play 2nd fiddle as this DLC is going to be a timed Xbox 360 exclusive.

After how crappy this game ended up…..I really don’t care. If the game actually worked….I might be upset at this.

This is where Sony fails in their “we won’t pay for exclusives” strategy.

U kno this really pisses me off. Yes XBL mite be the head honcho when it comes to online gaming but PSN is just as good if not slighlty better IMO. Im just sick of the wack ass developers treating the ps3 like a second child. ESPECIALLY with COD map packs. i understand alot more ppl are goin to buy it on 360 first but do they realize it just turns ps3 owners off when they get them months later. I mean damn is it that hard to to release them at the same time. No wonder Mass Effect came to ps3.

I know I could care less. They aren’t getting another dime of my money anyway.

Don’t really care lol. Don’t even have it. Better stuff coming this year anyway.

I laugh at this because I know sony owns 2011 and soon will be on top of microsoft :D

You want to be treated better? Why not come to Battlefield? Very robust game. It didn’t get the sales it deserved (it sold well but not when compared to COD)

    @ace

How? On the wings of Uncharted3? Not likely when xbox keeps giving free systems to movie stars, sports stars and big radio personalitys. What does Sony do? Nothing. How many stars (besides fictitious ones like Kevin butler) who praises ps3 like they do xbox?

Sony needs to change their marketing strategy big time. Kevin Butler can only do so much.

another reason why i didn’t buy this game, mag and medal of honor and battlefield 2 are plenty enough for me

“Sony needs to change their marketing strategy big time. Kevin Butler can only do so much.”

I rather hope they don’t. Despite all of Microsoft’s payola and, at times, underhand tactics, the PS3 is doing extremely well on the basis of being a good system with (in my personal opinion) the best exclusive titles.

Following MS approach might well give a boost in sales, but it would also lose a lot of credibility in many people’s eyes. At least as things are, when – yes, when – PS3 sales finally overtake those of the 360, it will have done so on its own, and not because its creators spent billions brainwashing the masses into believing that it’s something better than it actually is.

    ^^^agree with paranoimia

Meh, if i had a desire to play this i might care. Better things come to people who wait anyways. Iam happy with my real exclusive games also.

Im not sure if ill buy this….I have been so dissapointed with 3arch and craptivision, why should i give them another pile of cash for a broken game that sees no love at all, the “community manager” is too busy making stupid video challenges and giving love to the Xbox community. PS3 owners are people too, we paid money to play your crappy game, but yet we are brushed under the rug. we get little information from the devs and are treated as second rate customers.

Why should I give them more money for no reason? So they can continue to treat us like garbage?

Go to hell activision, go to hell treyarch, and go to hell Josh Olin…

I agree with you 110% my friend. I wish that all the PS3 owners would come together and ban all of Black Ops DLC and then ban the next COD. If everyone would join together and do this, it would show Gayarche and Activision just how powerful the PS3 community is and this is the only thing that we could do to truly get these A holes attention. When you start hurting their financial bottom line, then they will begin to listen. I know I’m dreaming though, something that awesome would never happen. As consumers this is the only power we really have.
