Mass Effect 2 Requires Mandatory Install

Mass Effect 2 launches this Tuesday for the PS3 and word on the street is that the game will take up a bit of your HD space. According to TheSixthaxis ME2 will require a  4.6 GB install before you can play the game, despite 5GB being shown on the back of the box. EA says the size is due to the “large amount of additional DLC and format exclusive content included with the PS3 version”.

The game is only 12 GB… and it ask you to install 1/3 of it to HDD? That seems a bit odd.

hmm maybe the 12gb doesn’t include the DLC??

Hrm… is it still DLC if it’s included on the disc? Seems like someone should have figured out how to have the game read those assets from the disc as well. Still, 4.6Gb isn’t unheard of or unreasonable.
