Quoted from Valve’s most recent PR….
“PS3 version of Portal 2 include cross platform play (PC/Mac vs. PS3) for multiplayer games, persistent cloud-based storage of PS3 saved games, and cross platform chat (PC/Mac and PS3).
In addition, those who purchase Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 may unlock a Steam Play (PC & Mac) copy of Portal 2 at no additional cost by linking their PSN and Steam accounts.”
Thats amazing stuff right there. Free PC copy of the game, cloud based game saves, cross platform gaming and chat. Who is buying the PS3 version now?

that’s interesting, but i think ps3 owners will be getting the short end of the stick.
aiming is much easier with pc games… then again, i think multiplayer is just cooperative for this one, right?

This is ****ING EPIC. Way to make the PS3 community love you Valve.

Holy crap! Looks like Gabe Newell is making up for his past PS3 hate speeches. Good to see this. He just gained some respect in my book!
Now if we could get move support in Portal 2!

When does this one come out? I will be getting it because Portal on the orange box was amazing.

OMG. I am buying the PS3 version then! Then just download it on my PC and play co-op with you all. LOL. (The graphics would look more awesome on my PC)

well that’s true, but it would be funny to get the game for the console and play it on the pc.

So I imagine Portal 2 will include Move support, right?
#10 by Dean147 on January 18th, 2011 [ 359 Points ]
yeah apparently it will include Move support. But it hasn’t been confirmed

This is the version I will get. Move should make this game better.

Very nice. It will of course cost more than its pc counterpart, but it will be worth it.
Cross gaming means they will deliver updates without Sony certification. That’s a MAJOR difference that needs to be focused on..

haha nice cross gaming, love it. Only play the first one for a bit but was damn good, looking forward to this

This is great. I can see it now, my wife on the PS3 and me on our PC playing some Portal 2 co-op. Then I screw up and we don’t pass the level and then I end up sleeping on the couch. Thanks a lot Gabe.

Wow wasn’t even thinking about this game, but now it’s a must buy

Cross platform play? Has anything like this happened before on the PS3? Or on the 360, for that matter? Friggin’ awesome!
#17 by Emrah on January 19th, 2011 [ 7309 Points ]
It’s ironic that we don’t have cross gaming chat, but we’ll have cross platform gaming
#18 by Eddie on January 19th, 2011 [ 43783 Points ]
FFXI was cross platform. PS2, 360, PC

Very cool! Did you play the game with people on other systems? Did one system (e.g. keyboard/mouse) seem to have an advantage over another?
#20 by Eddie on January 19th, 2011 [ 43783 Points ]
I played the game on all 3 systems personally. There was even a way to get it to work on the PS3 60 gigs which I did not do. the only difference was the pc version you could hack the mipmapping for a much better image and a third party windower that showed some additional info (was also against tos but everyone used it) since the game wasn’t naturally windowed.
there were no advantages from one to the other except for aesthetics. kb+m worked on all versions.

@Eddie: Wow, you got the full range of experience, huh? Well, good to know that people could play nicely together across the different systems. And yeah, mods are the main reason to use a PC for gaming.

Right as i was gonna get the Mac version… Now PS3 is where it’s at!
