hooray! cheat codes! anyone know or care to speculate why they fell out of fashion (I'd hazard circa n64 days in the console world, and circa quake in the pc gaming world)? mods in the pc world probably contributed (quake was first fps to build in the possibility of loading user-generated content). dunno about the console world, though. maybe in part games were getting easier, being tailored more toward casual gamers?
