Imageepoch Working on NGP, Comments on Uncharted
Posted by Eddie in PlayStation Vita, QuickNews on January 29th, 2011
Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage has stated that they have been waiting on such a machine to hit the market for some time now to develop on. While he did have some concerns about 3G and wifi, or how they will affect smaller developers, he was overwhelmed by the machine and can’t wait to work on it.
On another note he made a comment on Uncharted. He was quoted calling it “amazing” and not a half-baked production.

Posted by Luke in Mass Effect 2, PS3 on January 29th, 2011
There has been some talk floating around on the internetz that some PS3 users are getting corrupted save files after playing Mass Effect 2. According to Chris Priestly the Community Manager this is caused by to many level transitions within a single gaming sessions. The workaround for now is to play a little, turn the game off, and then start it up again. He has also stated that a patch has already been submitted to SONY and is awaiting approval. Patch notes are below:

Uncharted NGP/PSP2 Tech Demo Footage
Posted by Jay in Media, PlayStation Vita, Software, Tech Demo on January 28th, 2011
With the reveal the other night, a demo was shown of the Uncharted game being developed for the handheld. Though we got to mainly see a few low-res videos and a few camera shots, we didn’t get to see a very detailed representation of the game in action.
Luckily, Gamespot has the production video reveal available in 720P with the English translation dubbed into it. The demo seems to use most of the system’s control features quite well. I know what I gotta start saving up money for next…
You can also see a screenshot of the game here. It’s amazing how much detail there is for being a handheld.
Tips and Tricks: PS3 Rebuild Database & FAQ | Recovery Menu
Posted by Tosh in Guides, Tips and Tricks on January 28th, 2011

This is a good thing to do from time to time to keep your PS3 running smoothly and happy. I did this for the first time in over 4 years, so long over due. Earlier this week I was trying to watch some videos off the internal hard drive and it was lagging and sound came in and out for some reason.
So I thought I’d try to rebuild the ps3 database to see if it would fix it. It was perfect after that. So if you have other slow down, a weird glitch or maybe your trophies take a while to sync this would be wise to do. Check out the FAQ tab if you have any questions.
Sony’s Battle With Piracy and Firmware 3.56
There are rumors flying about that firmware version 3.56 was not “minor” at all as it was described by Sony. There seems to be a neat little addition or two that was added to help Sony fight against homebrew that allows piracy.
First thing is that Sony has enabled a rootkit, that once a PS3 connects to the PSN network, it can then verify the files required and/or bypassed from the newest firmware versions etc. There is no perfect way to forge this and even if code is written to bypass this option, Sony can still see PS3′s that connected to PSN without accomplishing this step giving them the heads up anyways. What this basically means is that if you have custom firmware then you will not have PSN access very soon.
Secondly, it seems that Sony has installed a trojan horse of sorts in your PS3 that allows them to control it remotely to force download proper firmware as needed. This one is a bit shaky and I’m not 100% sure of what laws govern this procedure if any. Basically Sony can see you are bypassing their firmware, they can take your PS3 and force it to download the newest firmware options. A bit of a touchy subject here, but brutal nonetheless.
So it seems if you want PSN access, stay away from customfirmware. This will at the very least fix the online cheaters, trophy cheaters and such which is a good thing.
No patch is needed to enforce this either. Its all done on Sony’s end.
