Hoard Review

Hoard what to say… it’s simple and addicting with some action and strategy thrown in. You control a dragon and get to burn villages, steal gold, and kidnap princesses. How can it not be fun controlling a dragon and being the bad guy. And right now until 1/31 it’s on sale for $7.49 which is a steal for this wee gem.

The graphics are done well with some really nice detail going into the pieces on screen. The game is set to look like a board game with overhead camera and a wooden boarder around the playing area. The stage starts with the map falling down in tiles and sets up quite nicely. Every on the map is very detailed starting from the archers being able to make out the bow and arrows, to the individual houses in the villages. Though a drawback is that things are a bit small if you are not sitting close to your TV it can be hard to make some things out.

Just Cause Game-Based Movie in the Works

A movie based on the game series “Just Cause” is currently being produced by L+E Pictures’ Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner, and the script is being written by Michael Ross. Adrian Askarieh is known for producing Hitman and is currently working on the upcoming Kane and Lynch movie. In an interview by Eidos, they stated that the movie will be an origin story detailing Rico’s transformation into Scorpio, and it may even be filmed in 3D. There are no details available on when it will start shooting or who will star in the movie.

We are using all the strong elements from the games to create a great “origin story” for Rico and how he transforms into the Scorpion character… The action we are going for almost demands the 3D treatment

Part 4 available again. Videos are also put into a playlist in one window.

CFW App Permits Loading PC Mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3

Remember how we reported that Portal 2 will make the innovative step of allowing mods built on the PC to be imported to the PS3 and 360 versions of the game? Perhaps inspired by this idea, independent developers have created a jailbreak/custom firmware application that allows one to import Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 mods from the PC to the PS3. This is important news, as mods are one of the main reasons that people buy titles on the PC in preference to a console. Also, this is one of the first exciting applications to come out of the CFW world, which has hitherto been devoted to giddy “Hello, world” apps; ports of emulators for older consoles; and, of course, game backups (which may permit illegal copying and distribution of software). Check out the video demonstration [edit: video removed] of Oblivion mod loading or read the news item. Note: does not recommend use of CFW: Not only is it a violation of the PS3 EULA, but CFW users face possible banning measures by Sony, as we recently reported.
