Killzone 3 Helghan Forest Map in New Game Video

Sony recently released a new multiplayer video of Killzone 3 which shows off some footage of the Helghan forest. The name of said map is Kaznan Jungle. Given the overall atmosphere of the game, I think the way the forest looks fits in perfectly with the style of the game.

Single Player Killzone 3 Demo Hitting PSN Next Month

Sony has announced that a demo for KillZone 3 will be available on February 16th via the PlayStation Network. PSN Plus subscribers will get their hands on the same demo a few days early on the 9th. The demo will be for single player only and will take place in the Icy Incursion level. If you’re fortunate enough to own a 3D TV Sony will be releasing the demo in 3D along side the 2D version.  Non 3D TV owners are still in for a treat though. The 2D version of the demo will be the only one that will offer split-screen co-op.

COD Black Ops Xbox Live Error

Way to ruin the party Treyarch! A bit of an error here shown from a screenshot revealing that no Xbox LIVE Party Chat is available, a bit obvious considering its on the PS3? Not sure whether this means the same net code is used for patches (which would go some way to describing its poor online state) but it has since been removed via a hotfix. Can’t deny that it’s a tad amusing.

MLB 11: The Show – New Mode for Disabled Gamers

Us gamers come from very diverse backgrounds. Every game has a target audience, and with the number of different game preferences and gamers out there, we have a huge diversity of different genres of games, but some gamers may have disabilities that would make some games nearly impossible to play and enjoy otherwise.

25 year old Hans Smith is a huge baseball and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Although, due to having Cerebral Palsy, Hans won’t be able to play in the real-world Majors, he is still a die hard fan. He is also a gamer (though, he actually refers to himself as a baseball player ;) ).

A few years ago, he contacted Sony’s San Diego studio, the guys behind the MLB: The Show titles, and expressed his love for baseball, the team, and Sony’s branded MLB title, and asked the studio if they could include him as a player within the game. In response, Sony did, in fact, include him in last year’s MLB 10: The Show as an athlete because of that letter. It was very uplifting for Hans, and it allowed him to become the virtual athlete he wanted to be, but Sony’s work with him didn’t stop there.

PlayStation Store US/EU Update for January 25/26

Highlights
Kind of a small update this week. To start things off, if you’re looking for sales on a few highly rated PSN titles, we reported about the 11 for ’11 sale yesterday, which has started today. Get them at half price while the sale lasts! Also on sale is the Super Complete Alt. Costume pack for SSFIV; Top Gun also receives a permanent price drop today as well.

Now, Dead Space Extraction is available for purchase on the PSN as well. It’s basically an on-rails shooter that first appeared on the Wii. I thought the game was pretty cool for what it’s worth; graphics are now in HD, but the game doesn’t have that current-gen look like Dead Space 2 has, but it’s neat that we have it available for the PS3 anyway.

If you are unsure about getting it, you can also pick up the demo to give you a basic idea of the gameplay. While there, the Bulletstorm demo is available for download as well, but keep in mind it’s a single player only demo; you can play it to try to win one of two prizes, though! Just read Oly’s preceding post on that giveaway.

If you’re looking for spicing up your PSN profile, there are a bunch of new avatars to purchase as well (which you can preview in Luke’s post here). There are 40 in all, including some from RDR, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and GTAIV.

Other than that, not much else. If you’re into some of David Bowie’s stuff, there is a pack you can get for Rock Band 3. I like a couple of the songs there myself :P .

Win a Very Rare Bulletstorm Nutcracker (Right Here on PS3blog.net) & Details on Winning a Bulletstorm PS3 Console!

Well look what the great people over at Epic sent us to giveaway!! This very rare nutcracker stands about 1 foot tall, and is sealed in a beautifully designed art box. This Nutcracker is based on the “Creep” enemy in Bulletstorm. The “Nutcracker” is also the name of one of the many “Skillshots” available in the game.

To win this very cool nutcracker, you need to first download the demo of Bulletstorm and play it. Take a photo of your best score and post that picture here in the comments. If you are having issues, you can also email your picture to me at oly[at]ps3blog[dot]net and then post that you did that here in the comments. The winner will be chosen at random, meaning having the highest score doesn’t matter. The deadline for submitting your picture, as well as the drawing, will be one week from today, Tuesday February 1st at about 3PM Pacific time. Depending on the number of entries, I might add a very cool second place prize!!

Bulletstorm is also giving away a PS3 console tomorrow, Jan. 26th, for doing the exact same thing.
“How would you like to win a Bulletstorm PS3? Tweet a pic of your best score with #killwithskill tag. We’ll pick a winner tomorrow! http://twitter.com/bulletstorm” A picture of the console is after the jump.

Here is the newly released Bulletstorm Demo trailer. And don’t forget, “The Bulletstorm demo also allows players to unlock platform-specific upgrades to use in the game’s Anarchy mode, from the Crimson Leash to Stealth Armour, when they purchase the full game.” Enjoy and good luck!!
