I think Dragon Age is the happy medium between Elder Scrolls/Fallout-style open-world, crafting, inventory-driven gameplay and Mass Effect’s unidirectionality, total lack of inventory, and dialogue wheel. Of course, if you don’t like fantasy, then DA isn’t for you. But the demo of DA2 seems really promising, and it uses some of the lessons that Bioware learned from the ME series, like the dialogue wheel and synergistic companion powers. Plus the graphics look way better than DA, but still not as good as the PS3′s version of ME2 with the ME3 graphical engine.But I’m with you regarding Fallout — I’m indifferent to the series. I beat F3 and didn’t bother with any of the DLC. I’m thankful that I only rented F3:NV as it bored the hell out of me. Too much crap inventory, as I mentioned before, and too many silly fetch quests that extended game time by wasting my time. Also I hit a nasty bug in F:NV that “disappeared” my companions without my consent. I looked into the matter; it’s a common bug on the consoles, and I found several suggestions for possible fixes. Tried one fix and it didn’t work; then I said f- it — I wasn’t enjoying the game anyway. Sent it back to Gamefly.

I'm not a big fan of fantasy games, but if there's a happy middle between Fallout and ME2, I'll happily give it a rent.

I couldn't beat Fallout 3--I wasn't devoted to it enough. I would always run out of ammo in the middle of a battle and die, then respawn right outside where the battle was, giving me no time to actually try to get stuff that will actually help me win the battle, or at least fast travel back to Megaton to buy some supplies...if I had the caps (which I never did).

Sorry. Rant over. I have heard that the bugs in New Vegas are horrendous, and even with multiple updates still aren't cleared out all the way. I guess I'll give it a rent in three years.

ALTERNATE OPINION MUST BE ANNIHILATED!), so I haven’t played New Vegas yet. I do like ME2 waaaaaay more than Fallout 3, however. A lot of people thought that inventory from ME1 was incredibly bad, I agree with the notion that BioWare scrapping inventory altogether was a bad move.

Unfortunately, the bug was way worse and the solution that you describe was of no use. All of the save games are interlinked in some way, so apparently once a game became corrupted, all of the save games associated with a given character were rendered unreadable. The only option was to start a new character (or load a different character). But all was, indeed, fixed with 1.01, so if you get this game, before you do anything else, UPDATE.Anyway, way fun game. I actually like it better than F3: New Vegas. Totally different game, though. ME2 doesn’t have an inventory in the way that a traditional RPG does, for instance. I must say that while I like tinkering with stat buffs and set bonuses and so on, Fallout, for me goes way overboard with the inventory, leaving me to sort through hundreds of junk items.

</blockquote>

Wow, that must've been terrible. I got this after 1.01 came out, and automatically updated it when I put the game in. So, dodged a bullet there.

I’m about to pick this back up tonight and I’m looking forward to it. The game isn’t bad, it’s pretty damn good. I just would of done a few things differently. ^^

No game is perfect (despite what my score says). There is certainly room for improvement, and I expect ME3 to be leaps and bounds ahead of ME2.

I, for one, have had zero problems saving. You can go like me, and save the game multiple times in different save slots, if it truly bothers you.</blockquote>
