Costume Quest & Grubbins on Ice DLC Review
Posted by premiersoupir in Costume Quest, DLC, PS3, Reviews on February 17th, 2011
Tim Schafer’s studio Double Fine, which created the innovative adventure/platformer “Psychonauts” and more recently the quirky Russian doll game “Stacking,” released the seasonally-themed light RPG adventure “Costume Quest” to PSN and XBLA on October 19, 2010. The game is a delightful bit of cotton candy fluff that features tongue-in-cheek but innocent humor, a solid if simplistic turn-based battle mechanic, and a healthy respect for the sense of empowerment that role-playing can bring to a kid or even to us, whether in a Halloween costume or through digital avatar. The game is suitable for everyone from a child who has never played an RPG before to an experienced and obsessional gamer (you know the type: the one who has to collect every single one of the five hundred useless doodads scattered throughout a game world).

PSN Not Hacked, Credit Card Info Still Safe….Unless You Run Custom Firmware…
Earlier today, Arstechnica posted a story that there could have been a potential breach of PSN security that allowed hackers to view information including credit card info, type of tv, type of controllers, etc.
This has been debunked by the hackers with an updated comment:
“There is no generalized ability for hackers to grab credit cards from PSN users; only those using specially devised custom firmwares would be at risk.”
Now much of this info is actually recorded locally on your PS3. Your credit card info and personal info obviously, but also it could store the tv you play on and the controllers you use and thats due to hdcp and bluetooth handshakes. So if you hook up your PS3 via HDMI, a pairing goes on between your PS3 and tv where they need to share a certain amount of information with each other. Same with bluetooth devices. When you pair one, the name of the device automatically shows up on your paired bluetooth devices.
In short, there is nothing to worry about unless you install custom firmware to your PS3 where you could potentially be putting yourself at risk for things of this nature and potentially viruses as well.
Easier Private Messages in Live Chat
In an effort to make things even easier for you I’ve created a PM link for you to use. Just highlight the name of the person you want to send a private message to and click the PM link. It will place @@Name in the text box for you. Actually it with copy anything you have highlighted but it will always place the @@ before it.
NFS: HP, Three New Content Packs Arriving Soon!
Posted by Luke in Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit, PS3 on February 17th, 2011
Not sure how many of you have picked this game up but it’s definitely one of my favorite Need for Speed games. I got this game around a month and a half ago and even though I haven’t put that much time into it, I like it a lot. The mechanics of the game as well as the music is really well put together. As soon as the game starts it gets the juices flowing, and it continues all through out the game. Anyone who is into the NFS games should really look into getting this, now that we have all that out of the way let’s get down to business.

Update: Portal 2 to NOT Get Move Support Afterall
Posted by Baba0Booey in PlayStation Move, Portal 2, PS3 on February 17th, 2011

[UPDATE] Since this post’s publication, Valve issued the following statement: “There’s a story making the rounds regarding Portal 2 support for PS3 Move. Unfortunately this quote was ‘lost in translation’–Po rtal 2 does not include support for Sony’s motion controller.” Too bad!! However there was no statement made saying that the PC code, cloud saves, and cross platform gameplay were false, so it still seems that those features are still ‘confirmed’ I’ll keep everyone updated as I look into this further. The original post can still be read below.
If you were anything like me, when portal hit the PS3 with Team Fortress 2, and the Half Life collection packaged in a perfect match up called the Orange Box, you went out and got it right away and first thing you did was tear into Portal with a fervor like a hungry man tears into a steak. After completing Portal I felt incomplete….alone, well no more, we learned last year at E3 that we would be getting a juicy sequel to the critically acclaimed title from Valve software.
With Portal 2 set to launch in April of this year loaded with features, today we learn about another juicy feature to the most anticipated game of 2011, Deploying surprise in…3…2…1…Move support! Yes that’s right, Portal 2 will feature “full move support” according to Valve. Valve’s own Chet Faliszek spoke of the feature VIA the German PlayStation blog and claimed it was “compensation for PS3 users not getting a Left 4 Dead release” (I think Valve is starting to see the light and are regretting not giving the PS3 the attention it deserves)
Other goodies that came with this update include PS3-Exclusive cloud saves, and a free code for a PC version of portal 2, also PS3 players will enjoy cross platform gaming with PC players through Steam, it just keeps getting better and better, April can’t come soon enough!!
