EA Pulls Crysis 2 Demo…. | PS3Blog.net

The PS3 version of Crysis 2 has had its problems and it appears EA doesn’t want to take any chances. From the Crysis 2 Blog:

“Thank you for your interest in the PlayStation 3 version of the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo. Though many gamers have had a great experience playing the demo, we are aware that others have been experiencing server connection delays. We’ve identified the root cause and have decided to close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours to ensure all issues are resolved when the game launches next week. Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch.”

  • Never even had a chance to try the demo out, because it was always timing out… actually I did on the PC. Except I had to run around on my own because my computer couldn’t handle other players in the game 🙁

  • well, this makes the ign story that you posted about (http://www.ps3blog.net/2011/03/17/crytek-calls-out-ign/) rather more credible. we’re talking about different problems here, but if EA couldn’t be bothered to get the netcode right (or even to fix it!), then I’m dubious that they ported other components as well as they might. and let’s face it, when *doesn’t* our beloved console get the short end of the stick when it comes to multi-platform releases? mass effect 2 is about the only example that comes to mind, and we got it a year after the fact, or whatever.

Totally unrelated issues as the article refers to slowing down of frame-rate and other in game issues. Which didnt exsist in what I played by the way. Im curious are you like a die hard fan of IGN?

no, I’ve just been frequenting their site for years now (for reviews, not news or editorials), and as I said in the comments on the other page, I generally respect their reviews. I haven’t noticed the ps3 hate &/or overweening xbox favorable bias that you all cite, so I guess I haven’t been reading the right articles, or I haven’t been reading between the lines well enough.

  • Interesting. I only got to try it for 2 rounds. I’ll just have to wait for the game to release and see how it reviews.
