Jock, from BASH and Slash, an all out everything FPS Blog, caught up with Battlefield’s Community Manager, Daniel Matros, and the award winning Platform Specialist, Frostbite Engine coder Christina Coffin. He talks to her about the award, her journey to becoming one of the best in the business, and why Battlefield 3 WON’T suck on the PS3!

I’m a 360 gamer, we’re both getting crappy ports. EA talk about stepping up their game opposed to lazy competition, but if they’re not even going to give us the full 64 player experience then I don’t see why I should be purchasing their product.

    1. Not all ports are crappy.
    2. Sorry to say but I think ps3 is going to get the better end of the console stick this time.
    3. I agree with the 64 players, M.A.G had 256 players, so don’t feed me the “Ps3 can’t handle” it crap
    4. Honestly though, I don’t even need 64, I’ll be happy with 32!

@Conor Lynch, in no way is BF3 going to be as amazing on the PS3/Xbox as that on the PC, but I think Christina Coffin is really adamant about the PS3 and is willing to push the console to the same extent as Naughty Dog have done when creating Uncharted 2.

    What’s a 360 gamer doing here anyway?

This game will be a new paradigm for FPS on all platforms, obviously it will be better on the PC, but that in no way means crap ports.

There a numerous games which have been ported that are still great.

And Luke, I agree with you that for this game devs will be pushing for the maximum quality they can get. You just need to watch one of the gameplay sequences to know this is not “just another fps game”, this is a extremely well polished and innovative title.

PC gamers will get the best out of this. If you happen to have a friend who has a ps3 and a pc have then run the same game side by side and it will be painfully obvious as it was for me the first I saw multi platform titles side by side. I bought a PC just for that reason. The pc is always better. Multi platform titles never, ever get the a good release and this will always be debatable. If he is claiming it wont be a crappy port it must be coming out later on the PS3 do to how complex it is? I mean look at bioshock and all the others that took longer to port right?

I don’t understand why everyone is making this so hard. First of all we all no the PC is going to be better, no one is disputing that. Second I am the one who said it won’t be a crappy port based on the interview.

This has nothing to do with BioShock or how complex this is. Just listen to the interview. Also not sure where are this complexity comes from, when I spoke to the guys at Fire Hose Games they said there was nothing complex about the PS3, but then again most of them went to MIT!

I think Sony will make it up for the PSN downtime this E3. You ask How? by signing a deal with EA for Battlefield 3 upcoming Map packs, to be released first on the PSN. Since Microsoft previous deal with Activision for Black Ops Escalation pack for the XboxLIVE.

Again … its just speculations … but we’ll find out tomorrow I guess! =)
