Killzone 3 Operations/Warzone Game Night | March 31st

On past KZ3 game nights, we have casually talked about wanting the Operations Alert as a ring tone. Well, I made one for you guys; you can download or listen to it in our forum. Let me know what you think. Just a reminder: every member that joins us on game nights gets points for playing. Which in turn, can be used for our portal 2 giveaway!

I’ll be in the PS3Blog.net PlayStation Home Clubhouse starting at 5:45 pm MST. Killzone 3 action will begin around 6 pm MST; I can play for at least 3 hours.

When I invite you to the “PS3Blog.net Game Night” text chat, please join it. It makes it much easier to communicate quickly with everyone.

If you’d like to join us, leave your PSN ID below. My PSN ID is xBerserker, but mention “KZ3 PS3Blog.net” in your PSN friend request message or I will not add you. If you would like to set up another time for a game night, you can arrange it in the PS3Blog.net Game Night Group.

Some Mortal Kombat Updates

Listed for an April 2011 release, Mortal Kombat looks like its gunning for Fighting Game of the Year honors (Take that Marvel vs Capcom 3 fans  ). Within the past few weeks, characters have been revealed, as well as gameplay features. I’m sure you all have heard that Kratos will be part of the game, and how the whole crew will bring it back to its MK roots by incorporating the Klassik elements we’ve all loved. Things such as old costumes, arenas, signature moves… everything to induce nostalgia.

Here are some updates and videos:

Full character list:

Row 1: Scorpion, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sub-Zero
Row 2: Sindel, Ermac, Reptile, Kitana
Row 3: Johnny Cage, Jade, Mileena, Nightwolf
Row 4: Cyrax, Noob Saibot, Smoke, Sektor
Row 5: Sonya, Jax, Kano, Stryker
Row 6: Shang Tsung, Baraka, Kabal, Raiden

Del Rey Books Will Publish a Novel Based on Bethesda’s RAGE

A press release from Bethesda Softworks, and Del Rey Books, just announced that a book based on the forthcoming game Rage is in the works. Rage is the next game from id, the creators of Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein. Rage won many awards at E3 2010, and looks to be a cross between Fallout and Borderlands. It is definitely a game I will be checking out a lot closer. The novel, also titled Rage, will be released in North America on August 30, 2011.

A plot for the novel can be read after the jump.

Official Review: Back to the Future Episode 1

It’s been twenty-one years since movie goers had seen the last Back to the Future movie hit the big screen. I remember hearing stories, when I was younger, that there might be a possibility that a new Back to the Future movie was in the works, but that was years ago. It seems that, at this point, it’s nothing short of a dream, and that most people have realized that a new movie in the franchise would never come. So you can understand my surprise, along with so many other BttF fans, when it was announced that Telltale Games was reviving the franchise with their very own take on the next episode… game-wise of course. But was this a good idea? After all, the series has such a following; was it wise to awaken the slumbering beast?

New To PS3 Week of 3-29-11

Dynasty Warriors 7 by Tecmo Koei – $59.99

Dynasty Warriors is looking to get a true next gen installment with DW7. Multiplayer returns, along side co-op, in this hack and slash brawl that tries to fit as many enemies on-screen as possible.

WWE All-Stars by THQ – $59.99

Think NBA Jam, but with wrestling. Demo is available on PSN if you’re really still interested. I found the demo boring and the gameplay lacking, though.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters Collector’s Edition by Electronic Arts – $69.99 with the Regular edition going for $59.99

The masters is here, along with new golfers and new courses. Move compatible.

Shift 2 Unleashed Limited Edition by Electronic Arts – $59.99 Limited Edition

It is arcade racing at its best. If you like unrealistic racing games, this is for you. GT5 fans need not apply.

Nascar 2011 The Game by Activision – $59.99

He is making a left turn! Wait, another left turn! Maybe this will capture the old feel of Daytona, USA?

PSN is also getting the Free Realms MMO totally free. We can expect Moon Diver as well, as stated in a previous post. Good week all in all.
