R&C: All 4 One Info and Terawatt Forest Gameplay | PS3Blog.net

First of all, I gotta tell you, when this game was first announced, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a title worthy of a purchase. Luckily, the more I see of this game, the more my opinion of it has changed. For those who like co-op experiences, this one is looking very, very promising now.

This has been a very busy week for all of the exclusive games we’re getting, with developers posting more information on the titles (as promised on the Official Blog the other day). Today, we have information for both Resistance 3 and this title, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One. For starters, Insomniac Games did state that, although it’s a co-op experience, the more selfish players will get better rewards (such as weapons), thus putting the “I” in “team”, as they put it, but the main focus is still on cooperation.

Some of the new features they showed off to journalists yesterday included special gadgets specific to each character, with their own abilities, so, in that sense, each character will play slightly differently. One of the examples given was how Ratchet has a Doppelbanger ability that creates a decoy to draw enemy fire. What’s cool is that these abilities also upgrade, and in the given example, the decoy will eventually upgrade to a firing turret.

The level they showed off was called Terawatt Forest. As to why and what is going on there, Insomniac’s Senior Community Manager, James Stevenson, had this to say:

…set in the Terawatt Forest on Planet Magnus. It’s the home of a scientist named Dr. Croid — who holds the key to the mystery of the Creature Collector. The plants and animals here are mutated thanks to the presence of a strange meteor – and players will also have to look out for Dr. Croid’s giant Guardian robots that patrol the area (which you’ll see in the video above!).

The game is still slated for a Fall 2011 release, and will also support drop-in/drop-out co-op, so if one person doesn’t want to play anymore, they can quit and the AI will take over, or they can hop in and play in the middle of the game. It also supports any combination of controlled characters. This is definitely looking like a very fun title.

  1. Can’t wait for this game.

  2. Earlier today, I found this article on my RSS: it’s an IGN Interview with some guy at Insomniac.
The article is titled, and I quote, “Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Doesn’t Impress (Yet)”

  3. This looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Do you know if there will be a local / online co-op mix option? For example can my son and I play co-op local with others online?

  4. Seems fun, but not really my kind of game.

Coop sometimes kills the games for me, as it’s difficult to find decent connections online and because my friends don’t really like this kind of games.
