@Rick Credit Cards were not "exposed". Its true that they "might" have the encrypted data, but surely not exposed.

I think most people are missing the point.

People's personal information and least of all credit card information were exposed by a company so full of itself, it publicly decided to take on hackers, therefore inviting, no make that begging to be attacked.

But to be honest, Sony literally has no other choice being as the company desperately needs some good PR.

I just got Playstation Plus and I'm a little pissed I'm missing out on my free content tuesdays, and I'm a little more ticked that they are going to give everyone free PS+ for a month--which means the content will be junk that whole month. But other than that I completely agree with you.

I'm glad this happened, I finally got an Xbox360 because of the fiasco and I'm really enjoying some of the titles.

Gianni: look i want something free because i have to wait for this crap to fix even the people who hacked and said that they were going to do it again………….U HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY YOU ARE A CHEAPWE HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR THAT COME ON I HAVE A CLAN BATTLE ON BLACK OPS I GUESS I MISSED IT I BECAUSE U HAD TO SUE THEM I FEEL LIKE GETTING XBOX PS3 IS TO CHEAP TO PUT IN FREE AND SAY SORRY FOR THE WAITTTTTT BUT NO YOU A FAT BASTERD THAT HAS ALOT OF MONEY AND DO NOT GIVE ANY THING FREE IF YOU DO NOT GIVE ANY THING FREE YOU GOING TO LOSE YOUR MONEY BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE ANY THING FREE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY THEY WILL BRING THERE PS3 BACK AND GET AN XBOX 360…… I GET IT THE ONLINE IS FREE BUT LOOK HOW MANY TIMES YOUR THING GOES DOWN IT GOES DOWN ALOT……. I THOUGHT YOU GUYS SAID THAT YOU WERE GOING TO PUT IN A PARTY CHAT LIKE XBOX YOU HAVE GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY AND YOU DO NOT PUT IT IN. WE SHOULD GET THE NEW MAP PACKS FIRST IDK IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT A EXTRA MONTH BECAUSE OF THAT COME ON ITS NOT FAIR PLEEEEASEEEEEEE GET IT FIRST YOU HAVE MORE MONEY THAN MICROSOFT PLEASEEEEEEEE TRY TO GET IT FIRST THAN MOSTLY ALL OF US WILL STOP COMPLAING ABOUT GETTING SOMETHING FREE PLEEEASEEEE THINK OF YOUR ALL OF US THAT HAVE PLAYSTATION NETWORK

You are an idiot you cant spell. You are complaining at this forum where Sony has their own forums. You repeat yourself over and over like a child. And to those out there who thinks Sony actually owes them for information gathered on their identity. That information is found in the regular phone book or even online.

I mean if I saw you open your wallet in the open and saw you had 5 or 100 dollars, are you gonna want compensation for me seeing how much money you have or because of your ignorant use of privacy in public?

Some people on the official blog at Playstation.com are wondering about changing their passwords if they were hashed and supposed to be only one way. Well if any of you happen to read this, remember that your security questions were part of that information stolen and whoever stole it can then reset your password without the need to do a reverse encryption.(which is possible but not likely) Thats why Sony wants everybody to change their password and security questions so it can be reset to whatever you want without the need to worry about somebody resetting your password after you create your new one.

I seriously wish half of these people that post on these blogs knew what the hell they were talking about before they start acting like idiots who "have the right to get something for free" just because they put their information on any network thinking its 100% safe. Did you know that people have previously hacked into the US Pentagon which is supposed to have the strongest networks around the world? Do you know what they do to people who can hack the Pentagon? They give them a job which pays a lot of money so they can built their security even better than it was before. Thats why that information never goes public. It would cause wide spread panic because the central part of our government network that is supposed to protect us and has all of our information, gets hacked.

At least Sony is taking the right steps they need to try and capture whoever is behind all of this. If you want to put your information online then thats at your own risk. Dont expect somebody to come to your rescue for your own decisions. Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions and quit wasting your time wanting everybody else to give you something or help you in return for you willingly giving your information out over any network. Here is what you should do, bang your head against the wall repeating "I shouldnt have given out my information over a network when I know there is nothing that is 100% secure online" Or Take responsible steps to protecting yourself if you are going to put your information online, OR suck it up and just understand that "Hey, this stuff can happen to anyone" and continue to do what you love to do.

Everybody always look for a get rich quick scheme. I mean there was that lady who sued McDonald's because her coffee was too hot when it spilled on her. I think it is obvious that if somebody is selling coffee, the whole point is to have hot coffee. She knew that and just because the company did not point it out to her, she won millions. You shouldnt have to point out the obvious to somebody and thats exactly what I am trying to tell everybody about putting your information online. Its obvious nothing is 100% safe online. You just have to take the risks and even with added protection, it can still happen to you because you have a standard computer or network where as a single hacker can have a stronger security than most companies have. They can create a virus or worms or whatever they want, then find a way where your anti-virus program doesnt detect it whether they make it look like something else or simply know how to bypass your security program. They can even hack into something important, then turn around and make it look like it came from another persons computer using IP addresses.

barkingmadman: While the PlayStation Network is a free service, it provides access to some paid services. I subscribe to both NetFlix and MLB.TV and have not been able to use either since PSN went down. Neither MLB or NetFlix can be happy about SONY’s response to this. I can watch NetFlix on my XBOX 360 or Wii, but I’m limited to a computer and it’s smaller screen for the MLB.TV service. I ordered a ROKU Player earlier today to connect to my HDTV so I don’t have to count on PSN anymore. I’ve also sent emails to MLB.TV encouraging them to work out a deal with Microsoft to get their service on XBOX. I’m also a PlayStation Plus subscriber, and I do feel that SONY is going to owe me something for this disruption. They can recoup whatever this costs them when they find out who causesd this by “intruding” into their system.

Dont worry about your Netflix. You can still watch it if you knew what you were doing. I have been watching my Netflix on my PS3 since day 1. Just turn it on, try to log on, it will fail. It may ask a few times but it will still load up your lists and play regularly once you actually get into it. And besides, Netflix is mainly for renting movies from their warehouses. Online Instant viewing is an added bonus they threw in at later dates with no extra fee. You can still use it without internet so they will not compensate you for such a pitiful thing.
