Call of the Dead will be Arriving to Black Ops via the Escalation DLC
Posted by Oly in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Media on April 26th, 2011
The upcoming COD: Black Ops DLC, “Escalation” map pack, will contain the previously rumored Call of the Dead level/s.
This co-op map was inspired by Night of the Living Dead creator George A. Romero, who also makes a cameo appearance in the game. You will be able to “fight for their lives amidst an army of bloodthirsty Soviet zombies”, as you play as the “zombie-killing dream-team” of, Danny Trejo (Machete), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead). The actors also voiced themselves for the game.
This trailer has actually got me excited to play a COD zombie level again. It looks really good.
No release date has been revealed for the PSN, but it will be sometime after the timed exclusive May 3rd release on Xbox Live.

Senator Richard Blumenthal Demands Answers from Sony over Playstation Data Breach (Update from Sony’s Jim Reilly)
Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal wrote a letter to Jack Tretton, the President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), “demanding answers” about why SCEA failed to inform customers of the data breach the PlayStation Network suffered on April 20, 2011.
“When a data breach occurs, it is essential that customers be immediately notified about whether and to what extent their personal and financial information has been compromised… I am concerned that PlayStation Network users’ personal and financial information may have been inappropriately accessed by a third party,” Blumenthal wrote in the letter. “Compounding this concern is the troubling lack of notification from Sony about the nature of the data breach. Although the breach occurred nearly a week ago, Sony has not notified customers of the intrusion, or provided information that is vital to allowing individuals to protect themselves from identity theft, such as informing users whether their personal or financial information may have been compromised.”
“Blumenthal called for Sony to provide PlayStation Network users with financial data security services, including free access to credit reporting services for two years, the costs of which should be borne by the company. Additionally, he argued that affected individuals should be provided with sufficient insurance to protect them from the possible financial consequences of identity theft.”
What do you think? Should Sony have notified us sooner? Maybe SCEA didn’t realize what was going on until today. Also, I still haven’t received the promised letter from SCEA. Have you?
UPDATE: Sony’s Jim Reilly has stated over twitter that they were not aware of the data collected until yesterday 4/25/11.
“There’s a difference in timing between when we identified there was an intrusion and when we learned of consumers’ data being compromised.”
“It was necessary to conduct several days of forensic analysis and it took our experts until yesterday to understand the scope of the breach”
Blumenthal’s letter is after the jump.

Newest PSN Update and What You Need to be Wary Of
Posted by Jay in Gaming Industry on April 26th, 2011
Sony has posted a new update on the outage of the PlayStation Network with some more concrete information as to why the network is currently down. Although there was previously only speculation as to why the outage took place, it’s nice to know that Sony has finally brought us out of the dark. So what did they say happened?
We are currently working to send a similar message to the one below via email to all of our registered account holders regarding a compromise of personal information as a result of an illegal intrusion on our systems. These malicious actions have also had an impact on your ability to enjoy the services provided by PlayStation Network and Qriocity including online gaming and online access to music, movies, sports and TV shows. We have a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week.
There you have it. The outage shouldn’t last any more than 7 more days, barring any possible issues that may arise between now and then. For now, Sony is unsure if credit card information has been obtained, but as a precautionary method, they advise you to keep an eye out for fraudulent activity, and to change your password and security questions when PSN comes back up.
