Dragon Age II Patch 1.01

Bioware released a first patch for Dragon Age 2 on April 19, 2011. In our review of the title, we mentioned the host of (more or less minor) glitches that we’ve experienced with the title. Unfortunately, it looks as if these problems were not addressed in the patch. The bug fixes generally address oddities with companions’ armor and skills. Some minor quest problems have been fixed as well. Finally, Bioware remarks somewhat enigmatically that “[v]arious technical changes should improve performance and limit crashes.” Best update: “Varric is no longer confused about which character Hawke has been romancing.”

Full change log (beware of minor spoilers) after the break.

ICO/Shadow of Colossus Collection and The Last Guardian to be Delayed

SCEE confirmed that the the ICO/Shadow of Colossus Collection is to be delayed from its original release date of Spring 2011 as well as The Last Guardian which was originally set for Holiday/Winter 2011.

Fumito Ueda had this to say:

I announced at last year’s Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011.

However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio’s obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing.

All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality.

I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for “The Last Guardian” for so long, but I beg for your patience. I will also announce the new release timing at a later time.

Eight New Screens For Skyrim are Beautiful

Bethesda has once again graced us with new screens from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They are all so good, that I am using them as a rotating desktop for Windows 7 on my PC. This game is going to be in the top releases of this year for sure.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, developed by Bethesda Game Studios, is the follow up to the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Skyrim will be released for the PS3 on November 11, 2011.

Red Johnson’s Chronicles Releases for PS+ Today

Red Johnson’s Chronicles is a “noir crime” investigation/puzzle game, that promises “8 to 10 hours of unique and immersive gameplay at only $12.99.” For PS+ members, this game will have a 2 week exclusivity, and be on sale for 50% off, costing only $6.50!!

The French studio, LEXIS NUMÉRIQUE, describes their game Red Johnson’s Chronicles, as “sort of like ‘Professor Layton meets CSI”. As shown in the video, you have to search for clues, solve puzzles, and closely examine items for evidence to solve the murder of the most hated man in Metropolis City. Where’s Superman when you need him? This game looks promising, and with 8 hours of gameplay for only $6.50, it’s a “for sure” buy for me.
