Sony Announces Customer Appreciation

We finally have confirmation on what we’ll be getting in the US as part of the “Welcome Back” initiative put in effect by Sony. As expected, the list is the same as the one posted on the European PS Blog (except for Germany; the EU also gets Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty in place of Super Stardust HD) but it is nice to KNOW what our choices will be.

Here’s all we’ll be getting:

All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

  • Dead Nation (Pick me!)

  • inFAMOUS (Pick me as well!)
  • LittleBigPlanet (I can create new watchamacallits. No wait, come back, don’t look at my sequel!)
  • Super Stardust HD (I’m fun, but you can’t beat zombies and a full retail game)
  • Wipeout HD + Fury (I race. And I race gooood)

For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

  • LittleBigPlanet (Smaller watchamacallits on the go)
  • ModNation Racers (Big headed racing on your hand)
  • Pursuit Force (More cars!)
  • Killzone Liberation (War, huh, what is it good for?)

Here are some other things we’ll be getting:

  • A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
  • 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
  • Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
  • Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
  • Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
  • To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.

So, is it worth the wait without online, and is what we’ll wait for when the PSN Store comes back?

I have most of those….I guess Wipeout and Infamous since I traded it in a while back.

Looks like I’m getting Dead Nation! and to think I almost bought this right before the outage. I knew that I would most likely have 3 of the 5 up for grabs, I really wanted MAG to be up there but ah well :D

Hrm, well, unfortunately I have all of those PS3 titles save for Dead Nation. Guess I’ll check that out! Still, this is a nice list for those who are lacking any of these. Infamous and LBP are probably the best buys, since they were disc-based games originally. Can’t really go wrong with Super Stardust or Wipeout, though.

I was just thinking about buying Infamous lol. And now I’ll have 2 more games for my PSP that I was planning on buying too! Any idea when the store’s supposed to get up?

For all of those who passed up on Dead Nation…you’re in for a treat. Game is fun, especially online coop.

I feel like loyal Sony fans are kind of getting left out here. We obviously have all those titles. Regardless it is what it is and they don’t have to offer anything for losing everybody’s information as it is stipulated in tos that they aren’t responsible so beggars cant be choosers I guess.

I feel it’s good enough. More than expected really.

I’ll be getting Infamous (which I’ll finally finish) and LBP, because it’s Mrs. Pedro favorite.

I’d get Dead Nation, but I guess I can get that from PSN for much less than the other games here.

SCE said” I’m really sorry tha[t] there is nothing there that you want. We’ve tried really hard to put together a list of high quality BD games, rather than simply offering cheaper PSN titles. The average metacritic rating for these games is over 84%, so these are high quality games. Unfortunately with a user base of 77m people, it is really hard to offer something for everyone.

I guess I’ll grab stardust HD and Dead Nation I suppose.

I’m getting infamous and LBP on PS3 and Modnation Racers and Killzone Liberation on PSP. Would have been EXTRA NICE of them if they just added $30 in funds to our account and we used that as we pleased but this is great as well.

getting Infamous (been wanting it for a while) and LBP (wanted it initially at release but kept putting it off for one reason or another)

  19. #19 by IvanTheGent on May 19th, 2011 [ 380 Points ]

I’ll pass on the game freebies, Infamous bore me to death and the rest I have played or don’t care for. I’m more excited about the movie rentals, please don’t let them be wack ass titles.
