Playstation Vita to Support DLNA and Skype

Brazilian site gamegen.com have posted an image from a Sony stage keynote on the Vita that it will in fact support not only Skype as the PSP did (even though it is now owned by Microsoft) but it will also support DLNA, a great feature the PS3 currently uses to connect to your network and view items stored on your PC!

DLNA is a great addition. I used it ALL the time on my PS3. Now if only the PS3 would get Skype ..

When is the release date for it? Wouldn’t mind having a hacked one of those. So many functions my 1000 doesn’t have.

why would you want a hacked one without even seeing what the stock one provides? That irks me for some reason. I could understand if there was some grand functionality not native to it and never coming to it that isn’t playing NES ROM’s….but seriously, this thing is doing more then any handheld EVER and I can’t wrap my mind around why it should be hacked…

I don’t want to pay money for the games.

can’t tell if serious or not….but if so, as I suspected. You should probably just stop gaming then.

@Eddie: Was just about to troll for this, but decided not too cause I like you. So I’ll be serious, yes I pirate games. Mainly games that have been out for a while or are only released in JPN. All my psp games are JPN any ways. Games I pirate that are new, I’ll go buy them if I like them enough too support the company.

Some games, like Portal 2, I didn’t buy. Not worth $50 for a 4 hour game. So it’s like playing before you buy to me.

GeneticMania we do not condone piracy of any sort here on PS3Blog.net

Please do not talk about it or mention it again. I’m serious.

feel free to troll if you like. My personal opinions to the side, its preferred if talks of piracy is left off of the blog.

Not for whats packed in this thing. It’s assumed that Sony is taking a loss for each unit sold. 3DS is $249 as well but only costs approx $120 to manufacture.

so that would mean it cost atleast $280 to make the wifi version.

I’m probably the only person here to say this, but the Skype part excites me. It was my favourite of the unused functions of my 2000 model, allowing for voice chat for games that sucked at it themselves (*cough* borderlands).

I’m pretty sure the Vita has a built in mic; but can anyone confirm?

woah what?! cross game chat? haven’t people been whining about wanting that for the past forever?

I don’t particularly like bluetooth. maybe i just like the reliability of a good old fashion cord though.

Same thing back in my DoD days using Ventrilo when playing. I’ve been replaying Resident Evil 5 with my cousin, and instead of using the game chat we just Skype with my mac and his phone XD works perfect.

I very much inclined to get this regardless, but they keep adding awesome things to it every day!

Oh, I’m so glad I’ll be spending my holidays in the US where I’ll be getting everything for a lot less then I would here :D
