PSP Remakes & What They Won’t Feature

With the new announcement of PSP titles being remastered in HD for the PS3 comes another not so good one. Trophy support will not be included. Sony Japan isn’t saying why this is exactly but Kotaku was quick to point out the obvious. Trophy hacking would be far to easy as all games support save transfer from psp to PS3. With email and many other forms of file transfer one can simply post a save that can be placed on a psp memory stick then transferred to a PS3 allowing for an instant platinum. Getting tons of extras with these titles should make for a solid purchase but those who simply love virtual Trophies are going to be truly discouraged on a purchase.

Does this affect your purchase plans? Will this be a theme that will continue with the PS Vita?

God whats with the trophy hackers? Earn them or gtfo of gaming! If anything I think the vista should have its own set of trophies seperate from the PS3. I have a bunch of trophies as it is and i have gotten kinda bored with them. If the vista dont have any it wont stop me from buying that cool lookn thing.

Why would someone hack trophies? Look.. I have trophies! Who cares! Trophies, for me, are just an added bonus as far as here are some things you can do with a game that you might not have otherwise.

Honestly I hate trophies for 2 reasons:
    A) It seems like they’re the only way to prove anything these days, whether its how complete you are in a game or a measure of your ego

    B) Screams too much of the 360′s “dickhat” point system.

Wait; those are the same reason. damnit.

Ok, correct me if I’m wrong but last time I checked trophies only unlock consecutively when the requirements are met AND they feature different time stamps. Exceptions COULD be made since you can transfer save data back and forth but three simple check routines could be implemented:

1.- Save data must originate from a PS3 system AND be tied to a PSN account.

2.- Save data must be activated on the PSP with said PSN account.

3.- Reasonable time must have passed between the save file being created and it returning to the console with all trophy requirements met. A 100+ hour platinum in 50 hours would be a no-no. 70+? That can be interpreted as legit. You could still wait 5 days to “update” the save file on the PS3 but that’s just up to each individual and how much they desire fake and effortless DINGS.

Trophies are a love/hate relationship, I love getting them, but I also think it’s shame that I don’t want to play these probably amazing games cause they don’t have them. Still, I like them, both tro/achvs have let me find games that I would never have TOUCHED and some good has come out of it.

Of course they won’t have trophies. The PSP doesn’t have trophies. The Vita however does support trophies.

If eventually something is released that I’m pleased with, this wouldn’t affect my decision at all.

Personally I get trophies, but honestly, I think they made gaming less fun.

Voice of sanity Pedro. Thats how i feel.

Eden: Your wrong. Cant state how as its not allowed and dont want anybody to get panties in a bunch if i explain it

@Pedro: Well, I take trophies as a “checklist” variant that helps me get as much as possible out of my purchases… except when you run into some crazy requirements that get skipped (playing a game 6 times? No thanks. Moving on!).

The trophy system is just a copy of the 360s acheivement system. They’re both just another function to make you by their games. “Trophy Earned” Wasted your time playing this game instead of spending time with your son/daughter.

I wasn’t playing for the Acheivements (though I might as well have), I just happened to get them all since I beat It 50 or so times.

Give me the trophies! Someone on my friendlist Platinums every game he/she has so trophies keep me competitive.
