Nintendo to Sony: It’s on like Donkey Kong
Nintendo have realized that the price they set for the 3DS along with the really “not there” launch lineup were huuuuuuuuuuge factors for the system not selling as much as was expected from the Nintendo DS successor (the best selling portable of all times). About 720,000 3DS units were sold from April to June 2011… worldwide. That is NOT great news for Nintendo investors (they’re sorta mad) and with the Vita from Sony picking up several extra stops on the hype train route AND being priced at a “boy will Sony lose money per unit”$249.99 launch price for the Wi-Fi only model … what can Nintendo do? How about bringing the price down from $250 into a more consumer friendly $169.99 and giving early consumers a GREAT “thank you” by offering them lots of free NES/GBA games for their 3DS instead of being a douche and saying “though luck” to early adopters?
Lottery System Update!
I’m proud to announce that it will be easier for you to enter via Twitter / Facebook / YouTube and it will track it all within the lottery logs at PS3Blog.net! Now when it says your chances of winning it will be accurate. This will make it a lot easier for me to track as well. This is how it will work:
-
- Twitter: Follow us on Twitter @ps3blogdotnet. On the lottery page there will be a tweet button. You just have to click that & tweet the exact text in the pop-up. Then a notification will pop up saying your entry was successful. Press ok & your entry is complete.
- This will cost you 12 points
- Facebook: First be a fan of our our Facebook page. On the left sidebar there is a [Giveaway] link. Go there & at the bottom there is a “Enter Contest” button you can click for your Facebook entry. Note: Make sure your logged into PS3Blog.net before you click the button.
- This will cost you 10 points
- YouTube: Subscribe to our YouTube Channel. We will post a bulletin. Follow the link & it will count as your YouTube entry. Note: Make sure your logged into PS3Blog.net before you click the link.
- This will cost you 8 points
These count as extra entries. Meaning you can still donate say 5 times at 150 points a entry and still enter using Twitter / Facebook / YouTube methods. This is why I haven’t been around the site much lately. I’ve been working very hard to get this working for you.
In fact you can get 3 extra entries in the Tekken Blu-ray giveaway using this new system. So hurry before the lottery closes.
We have several giveaways lined up, so you will get to try this out soon. Make sure to stock up on those points.
Comic-Con Recap: Crazy Games, Crazy Times!
Posted by PAUL FIERCE in Comic-Con, Talk on July 27th, 2011

I should feel blessed to be close to such major events that happen in and around the video game industry. What most people don’t know is that the San Diego Comic-Con is a major hub for announcements and reveals. Most people think this is just a nerd convention where some overweight stereotype dresses up in a costume in the middle of the southern California summer. They are wrong my friends.
Comic-Con has something for everyone. Video Game wise, Capcom announced Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Naughty Dog and Sony brought the cast of Uncharted 3 to discuss the game, Batman: Arkham City was being promoted everywhere during the convention, and last but not the least, Hideo Kojima himself making his 3rd appearance to promote the upcoming HD re-release of his famous games.

Sony May Bring the PS Vita’s Activity Feature to the PS3
Posted by Eddie in PlayStation Vita, PS3 on July 27th, 2011
Via Eurogamer, Sony Europes R&D manager has stated that they are thinking about bringing the Playstation Vita’s Activity feature to the Playstation 3. The Activity feature is similar to facebook posts but include activity within games. Your friends will have a chance to comment on them. While this would be a neat feature to add, I’m not 100% sure it would be used on a console as much as a portable handheld device. With that said, I would like to see more similarities in features between the Vita and PS3 to meld them closer together.

Here are some of the videos representing the classes and weapons (among other things) in the Paris multiplayer map. More after the jump.
Fast Draw Showdown – 1st Round Gameplay
Posted by Tosh in Fast Draw Showdown, Media, PlayStation Motion Games, PlayStation Move, PS3 on July 26th, 2011
Some people have requested gameplay footage of Fast Draw Showdown so over the weekend I had my wife play and recorded the action for the first round of the game. As you can see it’s a pretty corny game, but I think that makes it fun. The live action is a lot funner than some CGI characters honestly.
