The Weekly Recap (July 17th-23rd)
Posted by Jay in Poll, Weekly Recap on July 24th, 2011

Despite Comic Con going on in San Diego right now, it’s been a relatively slow week. Pedro put up an editorial about innovation in gaming (and I put up a poll using that as a basis). Speaking of innovation (or lack thereof), a new Zombie game is in the works, this one by Grasshopper Manufacture.
We had a few trailers this week. One for Starhawk (which was shown at Comic Con), as well as a Penguin trailer for Batman: Arkham City. We also got a sneak peak at some multiplayer with a new Battlefield 3 trailer as well.
We also had a few reviews this week as well. Puzzle Dimension, inFamous 2, and Patapon 3. Be sure to read those and leave comments!
With that out of the way, we still have a lot going on, so be sure to read the other tabs for details on giveaways and double points. I definitely suggest taking advantage of the latter to help you with the former.

Nothing new this week community wise. We do, however, have double points active through the rest of July! With a good number of giveaways coming up, now is a good time to stock up on points!
And, as always, be sure to listen to our BlogCasts! You’ll get plenty of laughs! For our newest one, be sure to listen to episode 10.

The winner of the Alien Zombie Megadeath giveaway has been chosen (as well as the winners of the Red Johnson’s Chronicles giveaway, so congratulations to you guys!
We also have our ongoing E3 Swag giveaway, as well as a chance for you to win a blu-ray of the Tekken movie.
For major giveaways, we have also made it a lot easier for facebook users to enter them. To see what I mean, be sure to check it out here.

Today was supposed to be our GT5 tournament, but since Pedro couldn’t make it, and likely Baba won’t either (leaving only 3 competitors), I have decided to postpone it until next weekend. Maybe I’ll see if I can get more people to join us this week as well.

So I hear you like Comic Con Cosplay…
EdEN on July 23rd, 2011 2 Comments
From the looks of it, you guys either spent a lot or didn’t spend anything at all when the PSN came back, as tied for the number one spot are “Nothing” and the 20-50 range. One person did have to file for bankruptcy, though. There are still a few things I have to buy myself, but I am a bit low on funds.
Since there wasn’t any valid poll ideas for this week, I decided to come up with one of my own. And I don’t get points for my brilliant ideas
. As usual, I like to base them off of something going on this week, so without further ado, this week’s poll is based off of Pedro’s article about innovation. The only thing is, I have a few things listed, and it’s up to you to see what you think is most important for future titles.

Patapon 3 Review (PSP)

You must save the tribe in its most desperate hour. Feel the rhythm on the earth beneath your feet and keep to the beat to give your faithful warriors a fighting chance. With over 80 quests to complete and enemy tribes, monsters and Dark Heroes to face, you must channel the bravery of the Patapon legends to fulfill your destiny as the tribe’s savior.
Sign the sacred Uberhero’s Pledge, select what Uberhero you would like to reincarnate in and name him, as you and the Uber are meant to be as one. Build up your battle experience, customize the armor, weapons and skills and watch how your Patapon evolve into one of 21 different classes with unique abilities.
So I hear you like Comic Con Cosplay…

Over at the live chat I realized that a lot of our members like to browse the occasional Cosplay gallery here and there once SDCC starts so why not give them a link to the gallery to end all galleries? You’ll have lots of fun seeing some veeeeeeeery good cosplay and some bad, bad efforts as SDCC starts to slow down until the innevitable “everything must go as it’s more expensive for us to take our stock back with us!” sales.

PS+ Content for July 26 and August 2nd
Posted by EdEN in PlayStation Plus, PLAYSTATION Store, PS3, PSN on July 23rd, 2011
Before we dive into the list of content all PS+ subscribers will get in August, let’s talk about how the Playstation Plus section of the PSN store has been changed around a bit and now you’ll find it has a new set of categories to make things easier on consumers. What are these categories?
PSN Store and Blog Are Finally Official In Brazil
É mesmo?
Fala sério!
Pedrooooooooooooooooooooooooo? Peeedroooo! Did you hear? Sony has FINALLY decided it was time to get the PSN to another Latin American country (first one was Mexico) as now Brazil has it’s own officially sanctioned PSN Store. What are the benefits of this? Well, Brazilian users can now use their brazilian credit cards to add funds to their wallets AND all prices will be displayed in the local currency (Brazilian Real) which should, in theory, drive up sales in the country considerably as import taxes on games reaaaaally drives up the price as a $60 release immediatly goes up to $90 or more and with all the great AAA releases in the next couple of months… well, it adds up and FAST.
Our Brazilian fans have much to rejoice as not having to buy US Store PSN Cards (which is a hassle since using their Brazilian Credit Cards for purchases outside of their country increases the final cost) is one less hurdle before being able to enjoy all the wonderful content available for their entertainment. Brazilian PSN Cards SHOULD be available soon for those that don’t have access to a credit card making it easier to make their most of their Sony console purchase.
As an extra bonus, there is now an OFFICIAL PS Blog just for Brazil! Follow THIS LINK to be on the up and up on all PS related news, promotions and releases. And what other great news await Brazilian fans once they go over to the official PS Blog for their country? Why, they’ll get a chance to download several games thanks to the Welcome Back Package!
Divertam-se!

Official Review: inFamous 2
Posted by Jay in Featured, InFamous 2, Reviews on July 22nd, 2011
Back in 2009, Sucker Punch and Sony released a new IP (intellectual property) that actually surprised many, because it really was better than expected (at least in most peoples’ eyes). That title, obviously, was inFamous. It basically followed a courier who had his entire life changed after going out to deliver a package, which contained a devastating weapon called the Ray Sphere. The bomb had been timed to go off (and Cole, your character, was specifically the target). A huge explosion destroyed a number of buildings (and killing thousands of people), creating a blast crater, which had Cole at the center of the explosion.
Though mainly battling with himself through the game, thinking it was his fault, the game was different in the way that you were able to decide whether you wanted to be inFamous (a villain) or Famous (a hero) throughout certain parts of the game. Either side also had exclusive powers, and usually, the evil powers were more destructive than the good, likely because collateral damage isn’t a concern when you’re the bad guy.
Anyway, this review isn’t about inFamous. It’s about inFamous 2, the much anticipated sequel to the first title. With the solid gameplay structure and story provided by the first game, the second one really had a bit to live up to. This review aims to show whether it does or not. It’s just a long read, as I tend to go into detail in my reviews. If you want a quick summary, skip to the conclusion.
