So, how many studios does Sony own after purchasing Sucker Punch? |

The short answer to that? Sixteen. Yes, that’s right. Sony is now SIXTEEN 1st party studios strong (and yet not that many first party IP, huh? Put them to work!) The long answer with a studio by studio breakdown? Follow the link to find out!

  • For the quick list and I count 19:

    SCE Japan
    Poliphany Digital
    Naughty Dog
    Sucker Punch
    Santa Monica Studios
    Sony Bend
    San Diego Studios
    Foster City Studios
    Zipper Interactive
    London Studios
    Cambridge Studios
    Big Big Studios
    Evolution Studios
    Guerilla Games
    Media Molecule
    Tarsier Studios
    Double Eleven Limited

  • Eddie, would you care to link each studio to a game? Personally I don’t know many of them, so I’m just wondering….

  • Link said sixteen, sixteen are listed, so I went with sixteen hehehe.

  • Could the discrepancy in the counts result from the fact that some of the above are publishers more than developers? Santa Monica, for instance, has worked with ThatGameCompany (flOw, Flower), but it is my understanding that it was Jenova Chen’s TGC team that made those games, and Sony Santa Monica execs just sort of growled at Chen occasionally about development time. But I guess that doesn’t make Santa Monica a publisher, does it? I’ll just shut up, as I don’t actually know anything about the business of software production and publication.
