Battlefield 3 DLC Coming One Week Early For The PS3

According to Tommy Rydling from DICE on a post at the Official PS Blog all the first “full-blown” DLC packs for Battlefield 3 will come a week early for the Playstation 3.

The first DLC will be Back to Karkand:

four of the most loved maps from Battlefield 2, boldly reimagined in the Frostbite 2 engine. It also features new weapons and vehicles, unique in-game dog tags, new persistence, as well as new Trophies.

Everyone who pre-orders the Limited Edition (at no increased cost) gets this for free. It will be downloadable from PSN for $10 along with other retailer exclusive pre-order incentives. Personally I have pre-ordered BF3 for the DLC with no extra costs and obviously because the game looks incredible.

This is an interesting move, considering BF3 direct competitor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has secured timed exclusivity for all DLC on XBox 360, furthermore increasing the competition between both games AND consoles. What do you guys think, is this a good thing or one week is not really relevant?

I saw this coming, with them pushing the PS3 version on Jimmy’s show and all. BF3 is to the PS3 what CoD is to Xbox.

The only problem here is that it’s only a week exclusive. Should have secured it for at least a month. I am pretty sure that people are not going to run out and get the PS3 version just because they have to wait 1 week.

Just read about this. I don’t think it will make much of a difference in terms of actual sales, but I DO think it’s interesting that each game seems to have a console it has allied itself with. I can very easily see people boasting about how Battlefield is better on PS3 and COD on XBOX (which is also my personal feeling on the matter).

I think they should have gone with at least a month, like CoD did with the 360.

One week is nothing. I’m used to wait at least month after release to get most games…

Well finally it feels good to know that EA cares for us. I mean I know the whole contract and what not, but still. At least theirs is reasonable with 1 week. I mean 1 month is just too much. And by the time Activision releases a month later, they have new one on 360.
